Anyone gonna watch LeBron James Thursday night?

Will he live up to the hype? They're showing high school basketball on national TV because of him...

I can't wait til he gets in the NBA, plays about 15 games, pulls a groin, fights it the rest of the year, then eventually comes back and has a sensational 2nd year, then gets jumper's knee a la Vince and isn't that great the rest of his career.

I'm gonna watch if I'm around at that time. Sounds like a good game. And I'm sure it'll be better than watching any NBA game.

No, I make it a rule not to watch high school basketball, especially to see someone play who has been hyped so much.

i agree with el scorcho. i hope that he gets to the NBA and has some injury that keeps him from all of this predetermined greatness that everyone has seen fit to bestow upon him. for crying out loud, this is a HIGH SCHOOL KID!!!! people are acting like it's the second coming or something.

I'll check it out. The funny thing is that this will probably be the only time I ever see him play since I detest NBA "basketball."

Why would anyone HOPE for injury or failure? I know he's hyped, but is that his fault?

If anything, it's a backlash against the media. I think its unfair for a 17-year old to have this much national expectation for him to succeed. Its not his fault that the media "sees" all this talent.

I personally hope he pans out, and becomes a star. I always like to watch the best athletes play, succeed, and fulfill their potentials.

Seems kind of low to hope for someone to get injured.

If you have seen him play you would understand why he's getting so much hype. He has an innate sense of the game that most at his age lack. He can do it all, there are no weaknesses in his game. If he wanted to he could score 50 a night. He has scrimmaged against NBA players a few times and they came away awed. I agree all the hype isnt doing him any good though. He will be under a lot of pressure to be an instant success in the NBA.

I will watch the game. I want to see what all the hype is about. Sports Illustrated has run 2 or 3 articles on him, so he must be pretty good. However, I don't see him being a good NBA player next year. I am sure other NBA players have been awed by his talent and his ability. But for many players the transition from college to the pros is tough. Everyone that has come straight out of high school has struggled in pros for the first couple of years. I just can't see him making the transition as easily as everyone thinks. Plus, the pro game is much more physical and mental than high school ball. Also, I don't think the grind of an 82 game season is going to help him either. He has a bright future, but he will go through growing pains, like all who came before him.

I'm gonna watch. After all the articles on ESPN and the recent feud between Dickie V and Billy Packer over calling this game, why wouldn't you want to watch?

Besides, Oak Hill is traditionally a pretty good high school bball power so the game should be pretty competitive.

I wonder if he will get his big payday and then become lazy like some of the young NBA players today.

If I don't pay to watch the world's greatest players play (NBA) and the world's greatest competition play (NCAA), why would I pay for a high school game? Why can't a network like ESPN pick it up? I'm as curious as the next guy, but jeez...

Cool beans. Thanks for the clarification. For the past few weeks I've heard they've been airing his games on Pay-Per-View, and that's all I've heard.

I'm there!

Nah, I'm not going to watch. I'll wait until he plays in the NBA against the Magic and get torched for 50 points by T-Mac.

This kid is the real freaking deal. He didn't try to be a one-man show at all. He wasn't out there trying to show up the opposition or make moves to get on sportscenter. And his passes......WOW!

I wouldn't care who the Wizards traded away to get the #1 pick this year.....I'd trade Kwame, Jeffries, and the our next 3 #1s for this kid!

Sadly though for some reason I think its already a foregone conclusion as to where he will end up. Any guesses?

Do you really think there's room for his ego on the Lakers?
