MRI shows that Favre tore his LCL

MRI shows Favre tore LCL in knee, but quarterback expects to play next game

Green Bay - Test results today showed quarterback Brett Favre suffered a torn lateral collateral ligament in his left knee Sunday, but a source said that the tear should not require surgery and that Favre expressed confidence he will be able to play against Miami on Nov. 4.

The source said Favre was not ruling out being ready to play in two weeks against the Dolphins even though he was experiencing stiffness and soreness in the knee. Favre indicated he won't be able to get back onto the field until he regains sufficient range of motion in his knee.

Favre underwent a magnetic resonance imaging test Monday morning to determine the extent of the injury he suffered in the Packers' 30-9 victory over the Washington Redskins.

Coach Mike Sherman was scheduled to detail the results of the MRI at a 3 p.m. news conference.

Considering that they are 6-1 and have a 3.5 game lead, he might want to consider sitting out a game if need be. I think that they would have a good shot at beating a Fiedler-less Miami team at home in 2 weeks without Favre.

Yeah, I'd hope he'd take that game off. Or at least start on the bench, and go in if the back up doesn't get it done. No sense in risking further damage when they're in charge of their division already.

Chris Mortensen has been reporting this since yesterday.

Good for Favre. He's a tough SOB.

Yeah - too bad he can't make plays like this on a more consistent basis.

Bulger might be an okay pickup. Look at the matchups that FAs have for the next week or 2.

Bulger may have a decent year, I picked him up as a backup myself. I believe he has next week off though, so you may want to consider that if you think Favre will be back quickly.

That's an understatement.
I can't remember a tougher QB in my lifetime (I'm 30)...one that you knew you could count on to not only be on the field, but consistently be a top 5 producer. He's amazing.

The Colts *might* have a guy like that in Manning, but I don't see him being as tough or gritty as Favre...yet.

So, should I go through with a trade in my league and trade Vick for Favre? I've got Trent Green & Joey Harrington as my other QBs.
