Can Charles Rogers enter the draft this year?

THis Maurice Clarett thing had me wondering if Charles Rogers (Mich. State) can enter the draft this year....we Spartan faithful had generally figured he'd be gone, but someone said to me this weekend that he has to have played three years before he could go. He was academically ineligible his freshman year, and is now a junior....does that freshman year count? I'm sure he'll be gone if he can, as MSU has thrown this year away.....but now i'm wondering if there is hope for next year since this is only his 2nd season as a player.

you have to be 3 years removed from highschool.. you dont necessarily have to have played 3 years

So in other words he's gone :( Oh well....maybe the Lions can nab him with the 3rd or 4th pick they'll have and give Harrington someone to count on - now that'd be a nice tandem! God what a pathetic state of affairs here in MI - thank god for the Red Wings :)

Yes he's eligible. As twikoff stated, you just have to be 3 years removed from high school...which is why Michael Vick was able to come out as a sophomore (he redshirted his freshman year). I'd say there's about a 99.9% chance Rogers enters the draft, so you might as well cherish watching him play in that green uniform while you can.

Especially since the crop of skill position players is looking pretty thin this year.

The WR class could be very, very deep depending on whether other juniors declare.
