Check out http://www.sportbookreview.com/ for reviews of a bunch and make sure hte one you consider isn't on their bad list.

I went with VIP Sports. I cashed out up a bit at the end of the NFL season last year and had no problem getting a check from them.

I second sportsinteraction.com. Very good service and timely payouts. A shame they can't use Paypal anymore...

Do these places (like sportsinteraction.com) issue 1099-INTs if you win over $1200? I'm guessing not since they're in Canada, but...

Or what if you don't win $1200 in one week and instead accumulate $1200 over the course of a month? Will they issue a 1099 then?

Heh no. You might as well send the government a letter yourself saying that you're illegally gambling if they were going to do that

Oh. I didn't know that gambling online was illegal. I thought it was legal...or else these threads about online sports betting sites (there have been a few threads already) would be closed since we're not supposed to be discussing illegal activities here.

I wouldn't expect sportsinteraction.com to issue 1099s since they're based in Canada, but I would expect any US-based ones to. Then again, it's probably illegal to have one based in the US...so maybe that's what you were talking about?

The law is very hazy. I wrote a paper about on-line gaming in law school. They are currently working on the Internet Gaming Prohibition Act because the current laws do not sufficiently address offshore activities.

What do they use? They don't CCs either right? My former roommate gambles (not sports) at casino on-net and uses paypal.

So what is this Act aiming to do? Just regulate gambling, ban it, or something else?

I'm guessing that US based online gambling sites are illegal...unless maybe they're based in Las Vegas or maybe regulated by the Nevada gaming commission. I guess that's why they don't issue 1099s....cause they're all outside the US (except for those, if any, that are in the US).

Definitely not regulation.

Part of it will require US-based ISPs to block the offshore sites. Part of it will allow law enforcement to go after the gambler, although I think this would be more of a threat. There are a lot of problems with the bill which is why it is still just a bill.

So, as of right now, it's legal to gamble online through these websites?

I'm somewhat curious because I'm intrigued about trying my luck at gambling on sports...but I don't want to do it illegally (if that's possible).

I'm in the same boat as you. I know someone who does online gambling and am reluctant to start myself because of legality issues. My guess (probably wrong) is that it's legal at the moment. I'm clueless on the matter myself.

Awesome, you bastard. I would've bet on that game too, if I had an account. Never bet against the Bows. Err, Warriors.

I just tried depositing some money with my Visa, but I was rejected because my Visa company (Chase Manhattan Bank) doesn't allow debits to gambling sites. Crap.

I'm looking into the "Central Coin" deposit thing right now.

Well, the Central Coin didn't work either...for the same reason my CC didn't work. I'd do the bank transfer thing, but I'm not too keen on giving out my SSN.

Oh well, I guess me gambling online wasn't meant to be.

I couldn't use my credit cards either. I had to use Firepay (bank routing).

I just won another $50 on Notre Dame beating Florida State (ND was an 8.5-point underdog)! Nice!
