So now I have this extra World Series ticket...

So now what do I do with it?
I want to get at least $300 for it. Here are my options:
A) Send email at work.
Pros: Selling to someone I know.
Con: Scalping tix at work can't be good, can it?

B)Ad for free in the recycler.
Pros: Ad is free and will be seen online by many folks in my area.
Cons: SCUZZY peeps read the Recycler.

C) Ebay
Pros: Lots of bids, maybe.
Cons: I have never sold on ebay before.

So....any suggestions?
(Other than giving YOU the ticket, that is... )

Offer it to a friend at face value. Go and have a good time. Don't be a scumbag scalper.

Depends where the seats are. What game is it for too? Nosebleeds in game 1 won't go for $300 I don't think.

How much is your buddy saving her? If it's great than $300 then hey, you might have a point.

See if you can find someone who has a solid Ebay record. Do the Ebay thing and give the person %10 or so of what you get for using their account to make the sale.

You didn't get this from that letter did you???

No. For that letter we were the guests of the Angels in the Diamond club and ate and drank champagne for free.
We got these online on Wednesday morning.
We got 4 seats and are taking my 74 year old Mom who has been an Angel's fan for about 4 years.

My guy does not think it is important to scalp the tix, but money is tight right now and if we can recoup the cost of going on the back of some rich bandwagon fan, and not even gouge them what the going rate is on ebay, it is tempting.
But then there was the time I was gonna pay for my wedding dress and be "Queen of the FURBY empire".
Long story short....I bought one of those little effers the year they were so hothothot. I was unable to sell it. I still got a great deal on a wedding dress and some needy kid got the Furby. (although I secretly hope the kid RAN to the nearest swap meet and got at least $200 for it.)
God just does not let me do stuff like scalping, I guess.
That's probably why I feel so bad about this....but then again, another part of me feels like a chump for NOT doing it...

If you're going to sell your soul, you may want to get more than a few hundred bucks for it.

Depending on how long she's staying, she'll save well over $300.

I think selling it on eBay would be the best thing to do. Then mini can send me a check for like $100 and I'll be happy.

i don't completely agree with the scalpers are evil thing. i mean yes, the ones who are using 100 telephones on speed dial and sending dozens of henchmen to the tickmaster outlets to buy up all the tickets...ok they suck. but for normal people who buy a pair or two by getting lucky and getting through during the public onsale...i think those people can do whatever they want with their tickets. if they want to go to the game and have a good time so be it. if they want to sell the tickets to friends at face or give them to charity that's great too. if they want to put them up for auction to the highest bidder to help pay their rent well that's their right too. i don't buy the argument that you are preventing people from seeing the games. they had just as good a chance as getting the tickets as you did. and if they really were die hard fans they would have season tickets (or a mini plan if they don't have the cash for seasons.) if you need the cash then sell the tix. it's your call mini.

Is it only 1 ticket?

I agree with Broadway. There is nothing wrong with scalping it. I wouldn't screw over my friends over on the price of the ticket. But if they couldn't come to the game because of a prior engagement. I would scalp it, and if some guy wanted to pay 300 for it. I bet he would pay 450.

Yup.
If we were heartless, cash hungry monsters, we'd boot Mom and have a pair.
There was a 4 ticket limit. Me+love+Mom=3
We were gonna take our friend who is a Cards fan. HE said he does not want to go if the Cards lose and has to work ( ) even if they win. We have no other friends who are Angel fans or WS ticket worthy. So, if we can recoup the cost of the tickets (and at $300 we can JUST do that...thank you ticketmaster and your bogus fees) I will be happy.
The Angels bandwagon is full of rich yuppies who will use the ticket and not sit with us anyway.
PLUS after giving up a boatload of personal info to Ebay for a Seller account, we find we must list the tix for 3 days. This won't work as we are Vegas bound on Thursday. So ebay is out. SO, we will probably end up taking one of our slacker friends. And make them buy the beer.

mini, don't sweat the 3 day minimum. just state that "the seller retains the right to end the auction at any time" and wait until a couple of people e-mail you asking how much you want for the ticket. when you are offered an amount you like (and receive payment) retract any/all bids and end the auction. at first i got pissed at sellers using this tactic...but the rules do state that the seller can pretty much change his/her mind at any time and remove/end the auction.

p.s. start the auction at 1 cent to minimize your listing fee.
