Bad Day for the Knicks

http://espn.go.com/nba/news/2002/0930/1439332.html

I guess it really doesn't make a big deal in terms of the balance of power in the Eastern conference since the Knicks weren't expected to make a lot of noise anyway but first, Kurt Thomas gets arrested for pulling a Jason Kidd (spousal abuse) and then Latrell Sprewell finds out that he broke his hand over the summer and will be out 6 weeks. Bad Karma for the Knicks.

As long as Spike Lee still exists, there will always be bad karma for the Knicks.

Knicks sign six free agents

September 30, 2002

NEW YORK (AP) -- The New York Knicks signed six free agents Monday, including three with NBA experience.

Forwards Tim James and Mark Pope and guard Toby Bailey will join rookies Todd Lindeman, Danny Johnson and Jemeil Rich when the team's training camp opens in Charleston, S.C., this week.

James is a three-year NBA veteran who played for Miami, Charlotte and Philadelphia. Bailey spent two seasons with Phoenix, and Pope has been in the NBA for four years with Indiana and Milwaukee.

Johnson played in the NBA Developmental League, the CBA and in the Philippines last season. Lindeman and Rich both spent last season in Italy.

Looks like the Knicks will suck this year too. Maybe they can get Lebron James in the draft.

I'll be following the Knicks this year because I like Frank Williams. I really hope he shakes his "doesn't try hard" rep. Will he get to play much?

I think he was going to, but then he hurt his hand early in the summer. He's probably going to lose a lot of time to that foreign guy they drafted.

All teams sign a bunch of free agents before training camp. The contracts are not likely guaranteed and teams want to get a decent number of players into training camp. Realize that most of these players will not make the team.

The foreign guy will be playing in Europe for another year. And I don't think Frank Williams will crack the starting linuep unless he actually decides to play hard all the time.

well, no wonder they weren't saying how Sprewell got his broken hand. It looks like he broke it on somebody's face.

Oh my beloved Knickerbockers... when will the bleeding stop?

Hey at least Spree has another month or so to focus on selling rims to big ballers out in California...

it looks like he's got more time than that. the knicks just fined him $250K and told him to not come back unless he can contribute positive things to the organization.
