NFL Football - MNF - Denver vs Baltimore

Denver vs. Baltimore Game begins at 9:00 PM ET

BALTIMORE (Ticker) -- Shannon Sharpe returns to Baltimore on the Monday night stage when the unbeaten Denver Broncos meet the winless Ravens.

The NFL's all-time leader among tight ends with 700 catches for 8,687 yards, Sharpe played 10 years with the Broncos and was a member of back-to-back Super Bowl-winning teams in 1997-98 before signing with the Ravens as a free agent in 2000.

It turned out to be a master stroke by Ravens vice president Ozzie Newsome as Sharpe helped Baltimore win Super Bowl XXXV in his first year with the team. Sharpe became an immediate team leader in Baltimore, often taking charge in team meetings with linebacker Ray Lewis, and the favorite target of quarterback Trent Dilfer, catching 67 passes for 810 yards.

In 2001, Sharpe broke Newsome's records for most catches and yards by a tight end.

Sharpe totaled 140 receptions for 1,621 yards in his two years in Baltimore, but the salary-cap ravaged Ravens were forced to release him and Broncos coach Mike Shanahan seized the opportunity to bring him back.

In three games this season, Sharpe has eight catches for 83 yards.

Todd Heap was selected in the first round of the 2001 draft by Baltimore and was tutored by Sharpe before taking over the position this season.

The Broncos posted impressive wins over St. Louis and San Francisco before beating Buffalo, 28-23 last week. Brian Griese threw for 211 yards and two touchdowns and rookie Clinton Portis rushed for 103 yards on just 18 carries.

The defense recorded four sacks and tackle Chester McGlockton returned a fumble 24 yards for a touchdown.

The Ravens are coming off a bye after scoring just seven points in the first two games. They were blanked, 25-0 by Tampa Bay on September 15 as Chris Redman completed just 16-of-38 passes for 141 yards with an interception that was returned for a touchdown.

The Ravens lead the series, 2-1, including a playoff win in 2000

If Denver doesn't cream Baltimore then hell has indeed frozen over.

I'm the first to not vote "Denver by 7 or more".

I just have a feeling the game will be close. Denver by 3.

The Ravens have the worst offense I've seen in a while. Denver has a great D.

Denver by 30.

On paper, the Broncos should win. Of course, as we've learned, any team can win on any given Sunday. Unfortunately for the Ravens, today's Monday.

Does anybody else find it weird that they keep using those Maddne NFL videogame-type graphics to break down plays? Is Madden paying for advertising? Or does ABC (Disney) get some royalties from sales?

Ouch. Deltha O'Neal just got ejected for trying to grab an official's man-tits.

Talking to Boot: Holy crap, that was an AMAZING catch by Todd Heap.

Now he's getting some loving on the sideline.

When two people post at the same time, the crappy post will always come first so as not to ruin the good, witty post. It's built into the program.
