I found a brochure at Best Buy for authorized repair centers for all their hardware, including the original Nintendo 8-bit system. Does anyone know if Sony or Sega have the same kind of repair centers?

sega has authorized repair centers, and if your hardware is within warranty, then they'll do it for free...but if not, expect a small bill.
Sony doesn't have authorized repair centers, you have to send it in. It cost approx. 100 dollars to fix your sony playstation if something major is wrong with it.

Sega does have a repair center, I had to send my Dreamcast out there last year. Ironically it broke the same day the PS2 came out.
I had to pay out the butt for shipping though, cause they are on the left coast and I am on the right coast. I still don't like the fact I had to pay for shipping considering the system was under warranty.

Actually it's a flat 59.95 + shipping to fix a psone. At least that was the case a few years ago, and I don't see a reason for it to go up. Either way what a waste of money, just get a new one.
