Sammo Signs on Soul Calibur
Industry: Sammo Hung is set to direct the upcoming movie based on Namco's excellent fighting game, Soul Calibur.
The "official" news comes form the Sammo website and says that there isn't much information available yet since the deal was signed on March 29.
Budget for the movie has been set at around $50 million with location shoots taking place in Eastern Europe and China.
Shooting is scheduled to begin later this year, with a release planned for summer 2002.

I second that jack. i said it before to whom i forget but if theres going to be a soulcalibur movie. lord knows it should be anime. anyone else agree?...but then again you never know sometimes life can suprise you.

It does have a high probability of sucking.. especially since Sammo has been off his game for a while. On the other hand, watching two CGI or anime characters fight somehow doesn't have the same excitement as watching two real guys performing good choreography. If the fights are done well, this could be good. If not, well, you've seen that Van Damme flick..
