I listen every week on a local station. It's always one from 1980-87 from a year that matches the current date. They never play the 2 part year end countdown. This same station plays Christmas only during holidays. I enjoy the trivia.

I was aware of the show and listened when I could but I was never able to keep track of when it played so it didn't get burned into my memory. When I'm listening to music nowadays, we have YouTube Premium so I just get a commercial-free stream of unending music.

I used to listen to it in the morning getting ready for school. Haven't heard his voice in decades though.

For the record, it’s Casey Kasem.
Yes his old countdown gets recirculated into syndication. I heard it on Sirius XM recently.

I guess actually hearing him on occasion on Sirius does not help, as you mention it. He had a great voice.

Sorry about mispelling his last name. Not sure I can fix the title.

No but I remember in the early 80's he had a countdown show on Sat morning TV and that is where I heard Michael Jackson talk.

Me reading this while sitting 20ft from Casey Kasem's studio.
Yes, heard his Countdowns, watched the TV version, and laughed at his Legendary Recording Session Crash Out many times.

The “fucking up-tempo record” they were coming out of was Dare Me by the Pointer Sisters.

Shout-out for the weird poetry of the thread title (especially including the misspelling).

Casey Kasem's top 40 countdown every weekend was a staple in my childhood. So many great memories.

I work at the same company, and in the same studio/building where he used to record the show in later years. This is the last sign up that points to the studio. I saw him in the hall a few times way back in the day when he still came in to record.

Yes I remember listening to the top 40 countdown (Casey and Rick Dees) as a child in the 1980s and 1990s. I also remember various segments such as "Long Distance Dedication", random facts/trivia he would give about singers/bands. Along with a bit of a geography lesson. First time I heard of some smaller cities was when he mentioned some of the affiliate stations.
