RIP. I mean it, he went politically a bit cuckoo the past 5-10 years but prior to that anyone into cartoon strips would acknowledge he was one of the greats.

That might be underselling his heel turn. He said some pretty despicable things that really alienatedhis fanbase.

I dunno ..... “The best advice I would give to white people is to get the hell away from Black people… So I think it makes no sense whatsoever as a white citizen of America to try to help Black citizens anymore.” is a little cuckoo No offense meant to Inhummans for the mocking of the description just struck me funny. I mean maybe not actually funny but at least Dilbert "That is recognizable as a joke" funny.

Sure, if you take a statement out of context. I gave up on Scott a few years ago, but trimming out his previous statements on a poll of black Americans and their high rate of hating white people, he made that intentionally provacative statement. Whether he says stuff like this to generate clicks is probable I'm sure

Generate clicks? The guy alienated some of his most ardent fans.

Who knows what his motives are to push the edge of commentary like that. Maybe you're right, he's probably 9 figures rich, so he can just say provacative things, but I think he was disappointed about losing the distribution of his strip. He talks for an hour or two each day, sometimes something that sounds funny or edgy in your mind doesn't come out as intended, but from my memory he never apologized so I would guess he would say he was misinterpreted. I don't really want to have to defend or explain what he meant, I found his early podcasts interesting but long gave up on it well before that comment.

I enjoyed the comic for a long time. Even the quirky animated series was kind of interesting.

Adams' statement was taken out of context.

The context was that he read a poll that said about half of African-Americans disagreed with a dog-whistled white supremacist slogan, and that's why he suggested that white people should disassociate themselves from black people.

The way to address perceived racism is education, understanding and explanation. Not opposite-racism and dissociation.

My father enjoyed Dilbert for it's commentary on his reality, and I thought much of it very witty, too.

Reportedly, he wrote some semi-self help books, too. Anyone read those?
