Nicole Kidman suits up as a chief medical examiner in the first look at Amazon Prime Video’s “Scarpetta,” the upcoming series adaptation of the Patricia Cornwell novels.
The crime thriller series follows the highly skilled Dr. Kay Scarpetta, who is determined to unmask a serial killer and prove that her career-making case from 28 years prior isn’t also her undoing.
“Scarpetta” also stars Jamie Lee Curtis as Scarpetta’s sister, Dorothy Farinelli, Bobby Cannavale stars as Detective Pete Marino, Simon Baker as FBI profiler Benton Wesley and Ariana DeBose as Scarpetta’s tech-savvy niece Lucy Watson. The show’s dual timeline is completed by Rosy McEwen, Amanda Righetti, Jake Cannavale (Bobby’s son) and Hunter Parrish, who play the younger versions of Kidman, Curtis, Cannavale and Baker’s characters, respectively.

Three Oscar winners!
I think it's cool that Nicole continues to work so much in TV, even if it's approaching oversaturation now.
I'm so, so tired of Jamie Lee Curtis' sassy, outspoken old lady act. It was cool in Knives Out, but now it is REALLY played out.
Didn't Kathleen Turner play this role in a movie once?

Nicole Kidman has really been keeping busy the last several years with all these series and a few small movies here and there, including Babygirl. I feel like there is always something new from her. I guess she wants to stay busy post divorce.

I read an interview once where she implied that she likes doing shows because it's not as disruptive -- it's usually all in a single city and is consistent work for a longer period of time.

In her case shows do probably pay better, too. On TV she is a big name actress for any show, on the big screen she's either the lead in a small film or a supporting actress in a big movie. She won't get cast as Wonder Woman, she's relegated to being Aquaman's mom. I think TV and streaming is a big win for actresses who aged out, for most leading parts, but not yet old enough for Diane Keaton old people comedies.

You're right, she was an EP on The Undoing, The Perfect Couple, Nine Perfect Strangers, Lioness and Big Little Lies and even some shows where she wasn't in the cast and besides the pay, most of those shows are demanding acting gigs and not garbage like her Zac Efron romcom.
