I don’t know if this forum really follows R&B. I remember D’Angelo from, the 1990s. Brown sugar was a big hit back in the day. Sad he died so young. Apparently he was in hospice with pancreatic cancer. He kind of fell off after since personal and legal troubles. He was considered a innovative artist for the genre.

Him, Lauryn Hill, Macy Gray, Angie Stone were basically their own subgenre of R&B

I admit that I wasn't the biggest fan, but I respected that he and those artists did something different as opposed to more mainstream R&B acts like Guy, Jodeci, New Edition, R Kelly and such.
