I found a report I did covering the Big Apple Anime Fest 2003 held in New York over the Labor Day Weekend 22 years ago. It’s a colorful snapshot of anime fandom as it existed back then and I compare it to my earlier experiences at fan conventions, esp. Star Trek, back in the ‘70s. At the Fest, I interviewed various anime creators, including director Satoshi Kon, who introduced TOKYO GODFATHERS there.

I polished and edited my original account and added images scanned from the actual program book for the event and posted the result on my blog. I hope you find it interesting. Here’s the link:
