Survivor Season 49 (CBS) Premieres 9-24-25 at 8/7C
Eighteen new castaways are about to hit the islands of Fiji in an attempt to Outwit, Outplay and Outlast the rest — and we finally have intel on who will be competing in Survivor‘s 49th season.
The competition series returns to CBS (and Paramount+) with a two-hour premiere Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 8/7c, continuing with 90-minute episodes every Wednesday beginning Oct. 1.
The fresh batch of players includes a former Marvel producer (Nate Moore), a financial crime consultant, a wellness specialist and a literal rocket scientist. (No, country musician Dierks Bentley is not a part of this season’s cast — watch the embedded video above for more.) And don’t forget — two of these players will be competing in Survivor‘s landmark 50th season titled In the Hands of the Fans, which is set to premiere early next year. Those castaways’ identities will be revealed at a later date.

This seems like they went considerably older then the median cast, especially with the male picks. Maybe casting just can't stomach when the 2000's babies are the majority and the majority and the dudes in the cast will be named like Colton,Braiden,Jaiden,Raiden,Aidan,Kaiden,Kaylor etc.

So maybe he just got woken up and has 'bed head'?

I don't think there is any point in time, in Jason's life, where his hair is nicely quaffed. He has perpetual bed head.

The crazy hair will help deflect people away from finding out he is a law clerk which would naturally make him a huge target, as I expect him to explain in a confessional within the first 15 minutes of the premier.

Anyone watching Australian Survivor: Australia vs the World? It's not on any conventional platform in the US, but if you look you can find it (you can watch episodes on the show's website, but you need to be in Australia or have a VPN that makes it look like you are). I haven't seen any earlier seasons, but I was curious about this one because the American Survivor representatives (Tony, Parvati, Cirie) and that this was a shorter season with only 10 episodes (only 14 players to start).
We're 6 episodes in now (they've been showing 3 a week, Sunday-Tuesday) I can see why the Australian version has its fans. 6 episodes and the number of challenge puzzles is ... zero. Challenges are old school. The game play is high level, and hasn't been predictable. And the show has a cheeky sense of humor, starting with the opening credit player intros (one Aussie is smuggled into the game in a giant bag
).

Australia vs The World just finished. Never had a single challenge puzzle. And while the game had hidden immunity idols and advantages, their impact on the game was much less than in American seasons.
If you like Survivor, I recommend checking it out. It was only 10 episodes, so not a giant viewing time commitment. The winner was:

I would watch if they just made it available to do so without needing VPN's and shit.

I enjoyed the first episode, despite there being several contestants who would have no chance on winning this game. At least one was eliminated right off the bat.

Some of these players are straight up repeats of previous seasons!
We get military black girl, young man with mental issues bubbling under the surface, old hippie guy, rich powerful Hollywood guy pretending he's not, feisty Latina, random ethnic gay who you think might be trans, half black half white buff guy, older lady with a wild side, militant lesbian, nerdy male who should be smart but isn't...all of these archetypes have been on at some point in the last 5 years.
Really disappointed that Probst thinks this way of casting is better than the old way of just hanging out at Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica and looking for pretty people. This might be the typical crowd that you see at a Walmart outside LA but it's not who anyone wants to watch for an hour every week. Its like they are intentionally NOT casting any eye candy.

I know some people complain about the casting, but the bigger culprit on the show is Probst stubborn insistence on the awful twist where a tribe gets their flint taken from them if they lose a challenge. This has resulted in almost every 41 or later season having a tribe who gets off to a slow start in episode 1 constantly losing. Pagonging's are fine every once in a while, but every season it cuts the air out of the premerge.

Some pretty annoying players this season, especially the guy with the manufactured laugh.

The problem isn't really the flint. Former contestants have said that the flint doesn't matter much because they no longer have to boil water and the temperature is very reasonable.
I think the bigger issue is that the challenges are all very similar, so if a tribe is bad in one challenge, they're probably going to be bad at all the challenges. It is always a physical section and then one of a few different types of puzzles, and the puzzle part is always by far the most significant part of the challenge. This season's bad tribe has had the lead after the physical portions of most of the challenges, but they have no one who can do puzzles. It isn't a surprise that they failed this episode's jigsaw puzzle after they failed a previous jigsaw puzzle as well.

Has anyone ever done to Jeff what Sophie did before the immunity/reward challenge? Jeff: "Worth playing for?" Sophie: "Not really"
She's not wrong. Protein or some kind of comfort junk-food are attractive rewards. Not something you'd eat when trying to be healthy.

They should go back to starting with two tribes instead of three. Makes it harder for them to get to know each other, spreads the interpersonal dynamics out too much for the audience, and it seems like there's always one tribe that just gets decimated. Two eight-person tribes, or even two nine-person tribes, seems more manageable.
But they've fallen into a rut anyway, since the permanently moved to Fiji. Same scenery and same challenges every season. They need to start switching things up.

Anyone watching this season?
I thought last week's episode was fantastic with a dramatic tribal council and an unpredictable finish.
On the flip side, this week's episode was a chore to get through.
So much time was spent on Stephen's journey--both watching him run around the island and hearing him talk about it. There was no drama as he finished with plenty of time to spare all while talking about the hardest task he's ever had to do in his life. The immunity challenge proved to be just as lame despite Probst talking it up. Then it seemed certain who was being ousted at TC. Sage's determination for revenge was so short sighted--it was a gift to Rizo, Savannah, etc. Seeing Sage and Jawan ham it up for the camera was over the top.

I’m still watching. Next week should be interesting, with an idol, a Knowledge is Power, and a Block a Vote with what seems to be a 3-3 split. At least it better be, because this week wasn’t. I don’t have much faith in the Sage side playing smart though.
Sage isn’t winning. Rizzo? Yeah, that could happen. That would NOT be cinema
[Yeah, I’m old and never heard that saying. And I have a feeling the people saying it are ones who have no appreciation of great cinema anyway]

So frustrating since Soph had the fantastic play right there ... take Rizzo's idol! Sure, she has a great chance of making final tribal but she has nothing on her resume ... except being #3 in an alliance and misplaying an advantage.
