WKRP was one of my first favorite shows. She will be missed.

Jennifer Marlowe was an iconic character. Only Loni Anderson could have played her - because she insisted on the changes to the character that made her special.

Re: Loni Anderson dead at 79

I actually thought she died a few years ago.

RIP

Come to think of it, I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen her in anything outside a few reruns of WKRP. I mostly know her from the tabloids when she was married to Burt Reynolds.

Edit: Yeah, looking through her IMDB page, there’s not a single thing I’ve seen her in. I guess she voiced a character in All Dogs Go to Heaven, I don’t remember the character but I guess I can say I’ve seen that.

I was a kid and she still gave me funny feelings.

I think she was mentioned in the attractive women threads and somebody said no she looked like she was wearing a wig.

True, she made that character! Growing up I thought she was one of the most beautiful women in the world. It was surprising that she never went on to do more. I always wondered if there was more to the story, like she wouldn't sleep with any Harvey Weinsteins or she was a total bitch on set. Then after the Burt Reynolds divorce drama she really came across as the villain and that was pretty much the end of her career.

I guess we will never know if Burt just hired a good PR team to paint her that way or she really did just use him. Since he said Sally Field was the only true love of his life before he died I guess there was still a lot of bitterness with Loni.

While it's horrible to die of cancer at least she lived a long life and this kind of cancer is not uncommon when you get older. Hopefully she had her children and family around to take care of her at the end.

She really didn't do all that much after WKRP ended. She did a movie with Burt (Stroker Ace) the next year - which was a total bomb. And the next 10 years BEFORE the divorce with Burt, he just basically did a few TV movies and some guest appearances on some shows. Her career after WKRP while married to Burt doesn't look much different than after the divorce.
