Hopefully not another one where I enjoyed the marketing more than the movie.

Based on that teaser, I’d say you’re safe.

I’m assuming from the different time periods and the line of dialogue at the end that it’s some kind of possession-through-time thing? I’m kinda with Philo in that Perkins’ movies – while admittedly creepy and atmospheric and ‘of a kind’ so to speak – are sometimes outdone by their marketing. Still, I’m usually intrigued enough to check them out down the road.

Is it just me, or is this man releasing films at a rapid pace? Longlegs last July, The Monkey in February, and this one in November.

Sold.

Perkins is one of my favorite directors working today. The Blackcoat's Daughter is a masterpiece that I recommend to everyone. I might ignore all marketing for this one if I have the self-restraint.

I'd watch Maslany in anything so I'm in.

I remember them playing this teaser as a post credits sequence for The Monkey. Wish more director's announced their next movie the same way.

I'm 47 minutes in and nothing happens.

I thought this was really effective for a long while...having Maslany in the lead helps a lot here. Once we get to the explanation part the movie can't help but be a letdown.

Put away your fucking cell phone in the theater!

Really enjoyed this one. I also loved the camera work here and where they placed it in this house, which is a character itself. Tatiana shined in this. A mix of relationship study and folklore mystery. A slow burn that gets nuts and leaves you with an all timer final shot.

That final trailer was outstanding but while I love Perkins, his films tend to fizzle out not even halfway through. They're still good, they just can't cross the finish line strong.

Was hoping to check this out this weekend, but it looks like Wicked is taking over the theater.

I’m losing faith in humanity. The critic and audience response to this film has been abysmal. But this is an absolutely fantastic film. I loved each and every second of this nightmare. In a year that we were blessed with many exceptional horror films, Keeper might be the best.

Had high hopes for this one but ended up disappointed. It's his worst film for me, but with that said, it's definitely worth a watch.

There's some decent horror in it and while I don't mind slow burn horror movies (I actually prefer them), this moved to slow for what it was doing.

Great idea, poor execution.
