Major bummer today. Such memorable roles in some really great films. R.I.P.

So sad. He's so good in both Tarantino films. He should have been a bigger star.

I feel like if Michael Madsen or Tom Sizemore had gone into a different field the other would have been a much bigger star.

Sucks to hear about his passing. He was in a lot of good stuff in his career. But unfortunately like many actors, it looked like he hit some hard times and work wise he had to take anything to pay the bills. And I think I've seen videos of him recently and he didn't look well.

Too bad. One of a kind actor.

An actor with a ton of charisma, great voice, natural throwback coolness. Great to watch him in Tarantino's films. So sad to hear about his personal tragedy and his recent decline.

My favorite Michael Madsen story was from Comic Con, he was there on Friday just to do a booth signing like in the video above (but in better physical condition). I got my laserdisc of Reservoir Dogs signed.
The next day there was a solo Quentin Tarantino panel. He was taking questions from the audience, someone asked about the "Vega Brothers" movie he'd once mentioned, and he said "I'd love to do it, but I think John Travolta and Michael Madsen are too old for it now".
I then noticed a person with his face covered, bullying and elbowing his way to the front of the Q&A line. Tarantino called on him. It was Madsen. He says, "What the fuck do you mean Michael Madsen is too old??"

I was just thinking about "Joe Gage" in Hateful 8. Gonna have to fire that up tonight, but will most likely end up watching Reservoir Dogs on 4K.

Madsen had a niche in cinema and didn't pretend he would ever be a leading man. Great supporting actor who could steal scenes here and there with the right material.

Virginia Madsen's statement from Instagram
My brother Michael has left the stage.
He was thunder and velvet. Mischief wrapped in tenderness. A poet disguised as an outlaw.
A father, a son, a brother—etched in contradiction, tempered by love that left its mark.
We’re not mourning a public figure.
We’re not mourning a myth—
but flesh and blood and ferocious heart.
Who stormed through life loud, brilliant, and half on fire.
Who leaves us echoes—gruff, brilliant, unrepeatable—half legend, half lullaby.
I’ll miss our inside jokes, the sudden laughter, the sound of him.
I’ll miss the boy he was before the legend.
I miss my big brother.
Thank you to everyone reaching out with love and memory.
In time, we’ll share how we plan to celebrate his life.
But for now—we stay close,
and let the silence say what words can’t.

Damn. I love Michael Madsen in pretty much everything o saw him in. He was one of my favorite actors.
Reservoir Dogs is also one of my favorite movies and he did such an awesome job playing a psychopath. My favorite bit is him arriving to the warehouse with a soda in his hand. The implication being that after the heist went bad, he started killing people, the cops showing up and having a shoot out with all of them, he then stops off for some fast food before coming to the Rendezvous point.

I used to have this poster hanging in my pool table room for many, many years. One of my all-time favorite perfectly delivered movie lines.
And I love the way he just casually tosses his drink to the side when Keitel asks him what he just said menacingly and Madsen repeats the line, again in a perfect way, while moving forward to confrontation.

Surprised he was only 67. Would have made him about 32 or 33 when he was in Reservior Dogs, he seemed older in that.

This is terrible news. No matter the quality of the film, he was always great to see.
