Official Kickstarter Film Related Thread

I did a search and couldn't find a Kickstarter thread for the movie section here and there is a new Kickstarter that I think is worthy of mentioning.

It is for FSM Online (Film Score Monthly) and they are trying to get a new message board. I have been a member there for many years and the place is ancient and needs an update, so it is nice to see them doing this. I figured it is fine to post here since they strictly focus on Film Scores and they are not a direct competitor of DVDTalk.

Link is here and feel free to post any other movie related Kickstarters here that may interest our DVDTalk community!

Film Score Monthly’s 35th Anniversary Website & Projects by Lukas Kendall — Kickstarter

Spoiler:
Greetings film score mavens! I created FILM SCORE MONTHLY in June 1990 while a sophomore in high school on Martha’s Vineyard. I loved film scores but could barely find any information about them—this was before the Internet was commonly in use!

Now it is 35 years later and FILM SCORE MONTHLY has grown to become a magazine (first print, then online), popular message board and CD label (1996-2012).

What’s more—and I’m not saying we take credit for this—film scores are actually cool now! And I’ve been shocked how many still know me from FSM—not only fans and collectors, but composers and filmmakers.

Basically, if you collected soundtracks at any time over the past three and a half decades, you probably know of FILM SCORE MONTHLY.

We have an incredible archive about this art form: from interviews with top composers (John Williams, Danny Elfman, Hans Zimmer), to essays and think pieces, to news and reviews—it’s a gargantuan resource.

But very little of it is presently online in a usable, searchable way. Not through lack of trying, but lack of resources: It takes time and programming to get everything tagged and organized.

That’s where this campaign comes in! We have a web company on hand—and editors to work with them—to create the next evolution of our web presence: a website where you can spend hours going from Mancini to Morricone, Star Trek to superheroes, Euro soundtracks to cartoon composers, with a few easy clicks.

We will also create a next generation of our popular message board, with modern social-media functions and nudges, and improve the long-running subscription site, FSM ONLINE, including podcasts and YouTube content.
