When was the last time Eddie had the lead in a feature film that went exclusively to theaters? It feels like he's been working exclusively for streamers for a decade.

I think Mr. Church (2016) had a theatrical release. I’m not 100% sure though. Frankly, if a Beverly Hills Cop sequel can’t get a theatrical release, I don’t know what Eddie Murphy movie could (Ok, aside from another Shrek movie).

It did, but I excluded it because it was a limited release in the US, and looks like a regular release only in Netherlands and Germany... and the rest was DVD release.

I think Paramount was hesitant to gamble on a 30 year old IP with a 60+ year old Murphy. The movie got made and for the most part got decent reviews.

I liked this.. better than Eddie's recent nostalgic efforts. Love the small moments. Playing Neutron Dance. Dice. Roman Reigns.

It was not bad especially the bantor between Eddie and Pete but the last 30 minutes was forgettable.
Maybe if Pete was around or of age in the 90's and aughts he could have been a star in comedy movies.
