This was the first movie I ever saw in the theater without an adult. My friend’s dad dropped us off to see this. I was 10 years old when this came out.

Some of earliest Moviegoing memories were of TMNT and Home Alone. I remember shows were always sold out and it took weeks before I could see it.

Saw this during it's first week while I was on Spring Break. Got the soundtrack the next day.

All of those voices ans sound effects in the trailer before the dub and remix are so weird!
A childhood favorite that still holds up today. It shouldn't, but it does.
Great movie.

Never saw this, so I don't have any anniversary memories to share, other than my sister and her friends bought tickets to Ninja Turtles so they could sneak into Pretty Woman.

I love this movie. I think in a lot of ways it’s under appreciated and for its time was very well executed. Pretty faithful to the early comics with some scenes coming straight from them. It also manages to be a good blend of being slightly dark, but yet friendly enough for a kid to watch.
When I was a kid I always liked The Secret of the Ooze more. That movie might have been more appealing when I was younger but doesn’t hold up as much as the original now days.
The character designs are all great too. The Henson suits are just so cool looking. I also think while it definitely has an early 90s feel it’s not so bad that it’s unwatchable.

I remember the first sneak-peek that I ever saw for this movie (As well as Batman '89) was, of all places, in an issue of Nintendo Power magazine. That's how limited the world was pre-internet!!
I only knew of the cartoon beforehand, but a reprint of the comics was released prior to the movie. You can imagine my shock when I saw how the Turtles turned Shredder into a giant, bloody mess in that!

I maintain to this day that there is more cinematic wonder in 5 seconds of those original turtle suits than there is in 50 hours of MCU movies. And that's less a knock on the MCU than it is praise for the work Henson's did on this movie. I love it more today than I did when I first saw it in 1990.
My only gripe is I wish we got a little more from Shredder. I get that it's a kids movie and they weren't going to take the Shredder as crime boss thing too far, but I needed something more than just "watch out or else Shredder will steal your tvs and sporting goods." That and I wish they hadn't dropped Mikey's character arc.

A childhood favorite of mine as well. Funny enough, last week I was watching retrospectives on the first three live action movies. Here's one about thefirst.
Oh and Partners In Kryme released a new version of "Turtle Power" that finally fixed a particular error in the lyrics.

This could also really use a nice special edition. Such a shame that we’ve only ever gotten bare bones releases.

Animated TMNT was my favorite franchise as a child. And then I saw the live action movies and was blown away.
The practical effects and costumes are still top notch too.

My older brother took me to see this and I loved it. I got into the original comics around the same time and there are shots in the movie that are straight out of the comic books. Still a fan to this day - just got an action figure set of the turtles in black and white as well as a cool Casey Jones figure the other day.
I never liked the “kidification” of the turtles, so I didn’t like the sequels to this movie or the cartoon. Some of the later movies got more into the original spirit but I want my turtles in black and white (or if in color, then all with red bandanas) and FUCKING PEOPLE UP.
While this movie definitely leaned into the cartoon vibe, it had enough of the non-goofy action to keep it at the top of my list.

Would be nice if they could also piece together an extended/director's cut.

I remember watching the first movie ten or so years ago. I was surprised by the poignancy felt during a handful of scenes.
Like the MCU, despite all the silly genre stuff, sometimes it just works and I start welling up.

Seem like the folks behind Honest Trailers had the 35th anniversary on their minds as well.
