Robert Rodriguez started one of these I think. It's called Brass Knuckle Productions. It's either like this or something along those lines.

Eli Roth is a terrible filmmaker. He never should have received money, from anyone.

He's no Uwe Boll

Hey Thanksgiving was actually a pretty entertaining slasher.

But, I know he's hit and miss creatively. I think this news is amusing. He has a lot of fans in the horror community who would probably be interested in this.

I watched Cabin Fever for the first time two nights ago and loved it, albeit in an outsider art kind of way. "This must have been made by genuinely terrible people, but it's oddly funny to see their unfiltered, offensive movie ideas."

That's true, but Eli Roth maintained a good name all based on the OK movie Cabin Fever and Tarantino's "presentation" of Hostel which is utter garbage. His best movie is the shark documentary.

Eli Roths masterpiece is Inglourious Basterds.

Roth never lived up to being the horror equivalent of Tarantino that I had hoped.

The best part of Roth's filmography are the foreign language trailers he did for the Hostel films. I like the trailer for Hostel II.

"Pero si usted quiere una chica Americana..."

Wait, does Roth want me or the fans investing in his new production? Because those are two different things.

This kind of reminds me about the Shark Tank pitch - Track Days

I don't dislike the idea if a seasoned movie maker wants to crowdfund a project. The Veronica Mars movie was co-financed that way, so was the movie Stromberg the German version of The Office and in that case the investors even got their money back, after a successful theatrical run. Eli Roth's smaller film have all turned out a profit, so this could work. I just don't like his movies.

$2.78 a share ($3.08 on 3/22), 100 share minimum, plus a 3.5% non-refundable investment fee (Min. $8, Max. $250). Shares get 10% of net profits from films for five years.

I'll do it. I'll try to report back on how it goes. It's an interesting model. It might help a lot of nobodies get going. A $1M budget can make a film somewhere between Neal Breen and Guillermo Del Toro.

If Eli spends my investment on escorts and blow ... I can't be upset. That's pretty much what happens when you invest in the stock market.
