Blast from the past- “Exclusive Movie Sneak Preview” DVDs
Always thought these would be interesting to look at years later. These were sort of common in the early to mid-2000s, before YouTube and easily-viewable, high quality video was available online. Best Buy and Circuit City mainly gave these out for free to promote specific movies coming out in theaters. Most were in cardboard sleeves but some were in full-size keepcases. They had 30 minutes of material at most which usually included a featurette with the typical cast and crew saying how great the movie is, the trailer, maybe a music video of a song from the movie and sometimes trailers for other movies from the same studio. Technical quality of these wasn’t great, usually 4x3 from analog tape sources and 2-channel sound.
Being a sucker for anything free, I picked up all of these that I knew of. I think the one for Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow was one of the first ones at Best Buy. Wonder how many people held onto these.

The Sin City one from Best Buy is all that comes to mind at the moment. Still got it.

I have like 30 of them on DVD somewhere. Also have several much rarer ones on Blu-ray. Some came with featurettes and other small bonuses if I remember correctly. I was probably in Circuit City and Best Buy at least once per week in the 2000s.

What Blu-ray preview discs were made? I only have the one for “Hancock” from Best Buy which was also made to promote the format, I didn’t even have a player yet.
