Directed by Trey Edward Shults (It Comes At Night, Waves). Waves was fantastic, so hopefully it is on that level.

Looking forward to this! Even more so with Jenna Ortega in it.
New album came out the past Friday. Really good.

It looks like Abel must’ve saw Waves and wanted to work with Shults based of that cool 360 interior car shot, because I saw that used multiple times in the trailer.

This looks like it's going to be all style and no substance. Also listened to his new album and didn't really care for it as a whole.

Saw this tonight in the Dolby early fan screening. As I predicted above, all style. Visually and musically it's good and it really benefits on Dolby. Too bad there aren't more showtimes in this theater. Also, a few songs on the album grew on me from my earlier post. Back to the movie: The story is atrocious!! Like this self-referential, I don't know if I want to be a singer anymore, I hate my life, wah wah character that left me thinking why should I care. Another thought I had during this was that this is kinda embarrassing. You have Barry and Jenna who can do good work and their direction in this was really bad. Abel just needs to give up acting (he was the worst part of the HBO show The Idol), unless he gets a part with Soderbergh, because that guy is one of the best actors directors out there and of anyone can make him be better then it's Soderbergh.

I was in the dark and had no idea he had a new album
Don't care for Ortega but Keoghan is a really good actor so the Weeknd scored by getting him in the cast.

Seeing some posts on Reddit where people are saying that those who didn't enjoy it was because they aren't die hard fans. That you need to be one to understand what Abel was saying and to understand the meaning behind things. Fuck that. If this is only meant for die hard fans then release this on your website. The trailer gives ZERO indication of this and sells itself as a thriller.

I wasn't sure where the movie was going, but every scene had an aura of dread about it. I enjoyed it for its style, even though the story isn't much, but since the movie isn't very long (well under 2 hours) I was fine with what I got.
I also really liked the mid-movie sequence, which seemed to be fusing The Shinning with Fire Walk With Me, but I'm pretty sure if I was watching this with a big audience there would have been a lot of bad laughs. A few things (unintentionally) made me giggle.
