I'll definitely check this out.
Hopefully it's on par with his earlier film Central Station. Motorcycle Diaries was only alright - saw it at TIFF and Salles was there to present it.
Salles hasn't really done much notable since then.

I saw this tonight and it is excellent. It is probably 20-30 minutes too long and drags as it enters the final act, but it is well-told, well-acted, well-written, well-shot, just all around well-made. I was quite captivated.

I'll say that from my personal enounters with people who experienced this in their families in an academic abroad time spent in El Salvador, this movie COMPLETELY hit all of the emotional notes that the people I encountered told me about, including in the moment and years later in life.

Fantastic film.
I had been aware of this since it had screened at NYFF and was a fan of Salles previous films, but I hadn't heard much of it since September. The Golden Globes really helped give this a push.
Spot on.

Very good film, though I did find the two epilogues made the movie feel anti-climatic. Maybe that's appropriate given the real life subject matter.
