The Woman In The Yard (2025, D: Collet-Serra) S: Deadwyler

Don’t let her in. #TheWomanInTheYardMovie only in theaters March 28.

From Blumhouse, the most successful global brand in horror, comes a terrifying new original film starring BAFTA and SAG nominee Danielle Deadwyler, star of Till, The Harder They Fall and the Emmy nominated limited series Station Eleven.

The Woman in the Yard is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (Black Adam, Jungle Cruise), who recently directed Deadwyler in the upcoming action thriller Carry On. The film is written by first-time feature screenwriter Sam Stefanak.

The film is produced by Jason Blum, producer of Five Nights at Freddy’s, M3GAN and The Black Phone, along with acclaimed Emmy nominated filmmaker Stephanie Allain (The Exorcist: Believer, Hustle & Flow), and is executive produced by star Danielle Deadwyler, director Jaume Collet-Serra, Gabrielle Ebron, Scott Greenberg and James Moran.

Blumhouse’s The Woman in the Yard will be distributed by Universal Pictures.

That trailer didn’t do much for me but I typically enjoy this type of movie so assuming the reviews aren’t terrible, I’ll give it a try.

This movie opens this week.

I saw the 2nd trailer recently. I think it does a better job selling the movie than the 1st trailer. I'll see it if I have time. Unfortunately, this type of movie is likely not going to attract many to the theater and will probably be on PVOD by mid-April. Low budget and no stars. Blumhouse movies just aren't box office draws.

The first trailer really had me intrigued, so I'm looking forward to this. Hoping to dodge seeing the second trailer as I don't want to know any more going in.

This one was pretty decent. Good use of light and shadow and Deadwyler was really good. As for the story, it's creepy and kept me engaged, but once you find out what's happening, it's depressing as fuck.

I am assuming
Spoiler:
psychological rather than supernatural?

I picked up on that from the trailer. Not sure why.

Disappointed by this. Even at 80-something minutes, there isn't enough story to justify this being a movie rather than a TV episode. Once again, a great lead performance in a ho-hum picture.
