No glaring inclusions, IMO, EXCEPT Spy Kids. That’s a big WTF from me.
I’m happy to see:
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Beverly Hills Cop
No Country for Old Men
The Social Network.
All solid choices.

The Library of Congress announcement, that is linked to above, says this:
I'm just going to bypass "Up in Smoke" and
at "Wrath of Khan."
Also
I have always liked "Pride of the Yankees" because I like both sports films and old Hollywood hokum, but this is not a movie that represents artistic achievement. It's such a pandering hagiography.
And I will take this opportunity to recommend "The Winning Team" starring Ronald Reagan to any "Pride of the Yankees" fans that happen into the thread.
Films Reflecting Hispanic Artists and Culture
Five films selected this year include prominent Hispanic artists or themes, including “American Me,” “Mi Familia,” “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan,” “Spy Kids” and “Up in Smoke.”

The Pride of the Yankees (1942)
One of the seminal sports films that has inspired audiences for decades, “The Pride of the Yankees” stars Gary Cooper, Teresa Wright and Walter Brennan. The film shines as a memorable Hollywood tribute to the New York Yankees iron man first baseman Lou Gehrig, who had recently died from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS aka Lou Gehrig’s disease). Several former Yankee teammates such as Babe Ruth appear in the film, thus adding to its authenticity and poignance. This beloved classic culminates with Cooper’s re-enactment of Gehrig's famous 1939 farewell speech at Yankee Stadium and its iconic, heart-wrenching coda: “Today, I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the Earth.”

Who would have thought that No Country for Old Men would enter the National Film Registry before it even got a 4K digital upgrade?

Re: 2024 National Film Registry selections
Not my cup of tea,but it's wildly popular with people who were in grade school when it was created. There will always be stuff like this that crossovers with a segment of the general public that is picked for the NFR,I am sure some Rock and Marvel films will be picked in the next 10-20 years.

Up in Smoke. I don't know about the Hispanic angle, but it perfectly captures the contemporary culture of the time it was made. A historical record if you will. A great film for history classes. FM does it better though. Original cast SNL (1975-79) does it best.
