Novocaine (2025, D: Berk/Olsen) S: Quaid, Midthunder, Batalon

When the girl of his dreams (Amber Midthunder) is kidnapped, everyman Nate (Jack Quaid) turns his inability to feel pain into an unexpected strength in his fight to get her back.

Just wanted to give a small shout out to STORY.....
This wasn't even on my radar until I saw his post in the "Companion" thread:
Still having a tough time realizing Jack Quaid is over 30, but seeing the Super Bowl ad for Hellmann's mayo made it real. Quaid and Ryan were considered an IT couple back in the 90s....and, while it doesn't seem like it, Harry Met Sally and Quaid and Ryan's Marriage were over 30 years ago.
I liked him in Companion and am sure he'll be good in this as well....I'm already curious if Story is also planning to catch this one in April.

....She loved it. Turns out, she had not seen a trailer for it. She saw the photo I showed her of Jack Quaid and she got it confused with the trailer she saw for Novocaine. She discovered the robotic revelation right along with the characters, and she said that enhanced her enjoyment a lot.

Yes, I am! I'll check out the parent guide because as I say, our oldest wants to see this, too.

This was the screen unseen tonight, really enjoyed the movie, decent laughs throughout the movie along with a bit of violence.

Saw the early screening tonight at AMC. It’s surprisingly quite long at almost 2 hours. But, I thought it was quite entertaining. Some gruesome violence (a lot was spoiled in the trailer) and some laughs. Quaid was great with the physical humor.
There is a little twist that isn’t really that surprising.
There is a really short introduction at the beginning with Quaid, Midthunder and Batalon. Just typical thanks for seeing this in the theater stuff.
No freebies with tonight’s screening unfortunately.

Saw this one tonight and it was a lot of fun. Trailers are really pissing me off lately and you've seen a lot of the movie from it. Good action, pretty funny.

Asking as a parent of a young teen who wants to see this on the theater and has seen her fare share of violent movies (loves the original Scream trilogy), how gross or disturbing is the violence and how explicit is the sex scene, please?

The violence is mostly body violence. fingers being broken, eyes being gouged and multiple stabbings. And some head shots. But, the violence isn't horror-like, it's more comedic.

Apparently in movie San Diego you do not need to slow down and/or pull to the side of the road for emergency vehicles.

The one scene that bothered me occured early in the film, where an innocent bystander is killed in cold blood during a robbery. However, the scene is brief and sets up the remainder of the film, making it clear that the bad guys have no redeeming qualities, so you don't feel bad at any of the violence that befalls them.

Pretty good, we saw it as a family. We enjoyed it but wow, the villains were sadistic and there were a lot of innocent people murdered, not a fan of that. The sadistic edge outbalanced the humor, and I wish it was funnier. I'm sure I'll watch it again on Paramount+ down the road. I waver between 3.5 and 4 out of 5.

My son is home for spring break and this was right up our alley. Took a little bit to get going but it did a good job of explaining “the world” and setting up the stakes. Once it got moving, it never stopped. More than one cringe-inducing moment and a few shocking bits of violence I didn’t see coming.
Really solid movie we thoroughly enjoyed.

I forgot I watched this until the thread was bumped, so that should tell you my take on it.
It was fine. It had its moments, comedic and otherwise. Wasn't bad but I don't remember much (and I watched it only a couple weeks ago). I think the biggest problem is the lead. Some jokes and scenes just fell flat that probably would have worked better in more capable hands.

Just watched the first act of this so far, but the city of San Diego should sue this movie for the portrayal of its first responders. No ambulances at the bank shoot-out, no police join the high speed chase, no cops show up at the restaurant. How much gunfire and violence does it take to get on their radar?
