Comments, Suggestions & Feedback for the 2025 Horror Challenge

A small sampling of suggestions taken from OHMC 20. As always, apologies if any were overlooked.
Funerals might be a good checklist item for next year (probably too drab for a whole theme day).

Re: Comments, Suggestions & Feedback for the 2025 Horror Challenge
Here are some suggestions:
Remove Luchador from the checklist, it seems too limited - I found a list of 19 titles and not all are even Luchador films (https://www.imdb.com/list/ls045016353/)
Add Home Invasion as a checklist item (or even a theme day) - here is a list of 319 home invasion horror films (https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?t...sion&count=100
Made for TV Movies as a theme day IMDB Advanced says there at over 3,000 made for TV horror movies [not including shows in that] (https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?t...enres=horror); also on YouTube TVTERRORLAND is hosting some interesting ones (https://www.youtube.com/@TVTERRORLAND)
'I'm going to the bathroom' trope temporarily to checklist - could bet set in a bathroom, character leaving to go to the bathroom, etc https://littleredhorror.wordpress.co...throom-scenes/
Not to be a BS artist but can SterlingBen just be banned from subset (worth a try after Killer Tongue, Greasy Stranger, etc)?

I work hard to find cinematic classics like these.
How about bring Monster back to the checklist? There were a few movies this year that seemed to hit monster but not giant monster or extraterrestrial.

Just a friendly reminder for the OHMC offseason (I.e the other 11 months)... a year long, weekly challenge on Letterboxd by yours truly. It's getting decently popular, and some people from here are already in... https://letterboxd.com/darkgod/list/...f-horror-2025/

Re: Comments, Suggestions & Feedback for the 2025 Horror Challenge
Darkgod, I really enjoyed doing your challenge in 2024 and look forward to doing it again in 2025!
Letterboxd just added access to some cool stats for lists for Patron/Pro users, which include which actors and directors have appeared in the most films on the list, as well as a ton of other crew and studio stats. So for TSZDT 2024 edition, for example...

(I'm sure you're all shocked -- shocked! -- at the names that appear here.
But it looks like actor and director lists keep going until they hit everyone who's done at least 2 of the films, and the rest go up to the top 20 in each category, so it gets pretty long-tail-ish.)
Time to start mining the stats on various lists for new names for the checklist!

Is Pro worth the $15?

Re: Comments, Suggestions & Feedback for the 2025 Horror Challenge
I mean, that comes out to $1.25/month, which I consider a pretty low bar for a subscription. I use the site a lot, in a lot of different ways, so I feel like it's easily worth it for me. If you only use the site to browse and maybe log your watches, maybe not worth it for you.
In addition to getting rid of ads, Pro also lets you set your streaming services, and then filter by what's available on individual services or available on any of them. Which, of course, lots of sites serve that basic purpose (LB uses JustWatch for their streaming info), but it's really nice to use that in combination with LB's other filter/sort options. Like, if I'm in the mood to watch a '90s thriller (but not horror) that I haven't seen before and that I can stream right now, I can get to a manageable list in a few clicks.
Pro (and even more so Patron) also adds some extra functions for creating and editing lists that I find useful. And I looove all the stats that Pro gives you access to!

Anyone hear from Chad? He usually posts in June to start getting things together and the actual pre challenge post goes up on the 11th. I Pm'd him, but he hasn't been on in almost 3 weeks.

I was just thinking about the challenge and wanted to check in. I'm also surprised not to see Chad. I hope everything is all right. I know there was some talk in the past about helping with duties or something, but maybe it would be a good idea to designate a backup Chad or maybe a council of Chad to help keep things moving if he isn't interested or isn't able one year. I know many, including myself, would be willing to assist if needed.

Thats something we can definitely do until Chad comes back or not.
We can also start the lists and suggestions here until he comes back. I'll definitely be a volunteer again. I'll start a new post so Chad can just grab it without me rambling.

I can sign up for subset.
Here are some early recommendations: A Desert (fits slasher/killer), Marshmallow (fits slasher/killer), Párvulos: Children of the Apocalypse (fits zombies), Tiger Stripes (fits foreign, werecreatures); will post more/better eventually.
Best to Chad who I am sure will be on soon.
