Tony Todd aka The Candyman dead at 69

Todd had canceled a recent Con appearance. Never suspected something was wrong.

I've still never watched Candyman but know him from the Hatchet movies, Final Destination, and The Rock. RIP

Just heard the news. Guy was awesome. Such a talent and unique presence. What a voice. From Candyman to Final Destination, Night of the Living Dead remake, the early LEXX films, the Hatchet movies. Gone way too soon.

Yeah he was great in the NotLD remake… Also Worf’s brother Kurn in multiple Star Trek episodes.

Oh, this one hurts.

He was one of those great character actors who really brought something to every project he did and it was always a pleasure when he showed up in something. Candyman. Final Destination. The Crow. Star Trek. X-Files. Night of the Living Dead. Angel. Babylon 5.

Re: Tony Todd aka The Candyman dead at 69

A shame.

We’ll still get him in one more Final Destination.

Though his best-known role on Star Trek was Worf's brother Kurn, he also played the old Jake Sisko in the excellent Star Trek Deep Space Nine episode "The Visitor." (One of the top episodes in all of Trek, not just DS9.)

Candyman is great. He’s iconic for that role alone.

Yes that was a great DS9 episode. His B5 appearance was memorable too.

Damn! This news hits hard. Also, 69 is way too young (that's the same age as my parents). As others have said, he was great in everything (even the lackluster second live action Transformers movie).

I don't think it was a cinematic masterpiece but saw Tales From the Hood 3 last week and did not expect to hear this news.

Damn. Sad news.

He’ll be mostly known for Candyman but The Rock is one of my favorite movies. Thats what remember him from the most.

Virginia Madsen posted her reaction on Instagram. She was pretty shaken up.

Re: Tony Todd aka The Candyman dead at 69

I thought he was excellent in the Tom Savini version of Night of the Living Dead.

Tony Todd was a nice guy who was an excellent actor in everything he did.

69 is just too young, these days.

One of the few celebrities I considered getting a pic with at a convention. Didn’t go this year but figured I’d catch him next time he was in town. Heard from a few people who did meet him that he was always pretty damn nice.

Just watched the Crow last week. Even in smaller roles he always crushed it.

Just watched that version of Night of the Living Dead just before Halloween. I try to watch it every year. He and Patricia Tallman were so so good in it.

And yes, 69 is too young.

In death there are no accidents, no coincidences, no mishaps, and no escapes.

I just found out he was the voice of Venom in the PS5's Spider-Man 2. I really need to play my copy of that game.

If I recall correctly, Tony Todd really like the Elton John song "Rocketman."

I think you’re mistaken. He doesn’t like soft-ass shit!
