What formats do you purchase music on these days?
I've always been curious about this recently since CDs seem to be fading away?
I admit that I've kind of faded away from getting music on CD lately. Maybe once in awhile I will pick up a new CD. But, I still have a CD player in my 2018 KIA Sportage. I last went on a CD shopping spree over a year ago when I visited a Tower records in Tokyo. Music on physical discs are still selling well there, unlike here.
I didn't make the poll multiple picks, do choose the No. 1 source.

Yeah, physical media is still very popular in Japan (and prices are still higher than most other places in the world, go figure!). I'll be going to Japan at the end of the year and will definitely be hitting the Tower Records in Shibuya, plus some Disc Union locations for used vinyl.
When I want to have a dedicated listening session at home, about 75% of the time it's vinyl and 25% of the time CDs. I still buy plenty of both, which format depends on several variables, but I often buy new releases in both formats. A lot of the bands I listen to have a pretty small fan base (we're often talking pressing quantities only in the low hundreds) so I like to support bands I'm a fan of as best as I can. My genre of preference is mostly metal and I find that metal fans are still very much into physical media.
If I'm in the car, at work, etc. it's usually streaming on Spotify or music on a USB stick.

Apple Music is my primary source now and it's been free with my Verizon plan for years. I also have SiriusXM which is used daily. I occasionally buy album downloads directly from the artist. The couple I have bought this year were $5 each, extra tracks and mp3/flac/wav downloads.
Before Apple Music, CDs I bought were ripped into iTunes and then loaded on my phone and pretty much never used again. I still have my massive iTunes library to fall back on.

I guess I could only pick one choice in the poll, even though the first four would apply to me, so I went with my favorite, vinyl.

Since I have a subscription to Sirius XM radio and a subscription to YouTube music through YouTube premium I went with streaming off a legal service in the poll.
I will get a new CD every once in a while. Most recently I got Kelly Clarkson's most recent CD since it was under $10

Mostly youtube.
If I find myself listening to a particular album more than a dozen times over a short period of time on youtube, I'll consider buying the cd version.

YouTube Premium as well but I don't use the separate music app.

I think the last time I purchased music was when I bought some used CDs at a garage sale a few years ago.

To be fair, the question in the thread title and in the poll are different. I stream off of Spotify and Tidal (I subscribe to both for some dumb reasons). I rarely buy a CD. Maybe a box set occasionally. My car has no CD player and I don't really play CDs at home.
My daughter buys limited collector's vinyl releases though.

CDs/SACDs/Blu-ray
They've been putting out more albums the past year or two on Blu-ray, usually with ATMOS mixes.

Nowadays I will generally buy downloads off Bandcamp, but I have been listening to all my old CDs in the car, so might start picking up a few of those as well. I have a turntable, but the idea of $35 albums is hard for me to swallow.

Vinyl only.
I don't think I've bought a CD since 2011. I think the last one was "Heritage" by Opeth. It's been vinyl ever since.
I also don't use any services like Spotify; if I'm listening to music online it's from Youtube.

CD/BD/SACD are what I purchase. I do have a subscription to Tidal since they offer high quality streaming and also Neil Young's Archives. NYA is $40 a year and it has all of his studio albums, live albums and box sets in hi-res audio plus a buch of full concerts from the 1970s to current.

Almost exclusively vinyl. I only buy cds if it’s something i really want which isn’t available on vinyl or is over the $100-125 range. I have occasionally bought records that cost that much but it’s very rare.

You should be able to make multiple choices here.
CDs and Stream for me. I mainly just get CDs now for all deluxe or special editions that may be eventually pulled from streaming like so many have.
I only buy a CD for a single album now if it is something I am blown away and listening to constantly via streaming or if it is by a group that I buy everything by like Ghost or Disturbed.

Spotify premium. I only buy CDs as gifts or if I particularly want to support the release or artist (then I listen on Spotify anyway).

Re: What formats do you purchase music on these days?
My format of choice was always vinyl LPs, I have a nice collection going dating back a few decades. I've purchased cassettes and CDs in the past, still have both.
Having said all that, I haven't kept up with music for several years now, most (if not all) of the newer music I've heard on the radio sounds like crap to me, I wouldn't waste my money on it. I think the last music I bought was a CD (which I copied to a flash drive) by Frank Steiner Jr., Touching Silk, which I listen to in the car everywhere I go. It's soothing, and it never gets old.

Mostly Spotify Premium for new stuff, though I will scour the small music shops for used vinyl and CDs when travelling.

Re: What formats do you purchase music on these days?
Usually vinyl or digital (direct from the artist if possible). Sometimes I'll pick up a CD at the merch table from opening bands. Also have SiriusXM.

I don’t buy a ton of music anymore. If I do normally vinyl but I’m fairly selective.
I’ve bought a CD here and there but not too often anymore. Mostly bands i really like and have collected for years.
Otherwise I’ll buy singles from iTunes if I really like certain songs or once in a while full albums if they’re priced low. I’ve subscribed to YouTube Premium for a long time so also use that.
