Described as The Purge with werewolves, Steven C. Miller‘s (Silent Night) Werewolves will be unleashed in theaters December 6, 2024.
From Briarcliff Entertainment and The Solution Entertainment Group, Steven C. Miller’s Werewolves stars Frank Grillo.
In Werewolves, “a supermoon event triggers a latent gene in every human on the planet, turning anyone who entered the moonlight into a werewolf for that one night. Chaos ensued and close to a billion people died. Now, a year later, the Supermoon is back.”
Katrina Law (NCIS), Ilfenesh Hadera (Godfather Of Harlem), James Michael Cummings (City On The Hill) and Lou Diamond Phillips (Prodigal Son) also star.
Werewolves is rated “R” for “Violence, some gore, and language.”

The werewolves look cool - they were done by ADI. I will wait until it's on streaming to watch.

Wow, a Frank Grillo movie actually going to theaters. It looks like some money actually went into this unlike most of his DTV movies. Surprised they didn't get this out for Halloween.

Joblo liked it, mainly because of Grillo and the practical werewolf effects. And, yes, it's similar to The Purge.

There's only 4 people at my screening for tonight, so we'll see how many more folks show up. There's only two showings tonight and then down to one showing for tomorrow before leaving theaters. It has been playing all over L.A. this past week, though. I've been seeing lots of social media posts and a lot of the ADI crew have been posting pics of themselves at the public screenings.

It was bad but fun 'bad'. It didn't think it was a waste of time seeing it. Maybe hitting it after hitting the brewery might have helped. Only 1 other person in the theater for the 8:20pm saturday showing.

My theater filled up to about 25-30 people. It was fine. B-movie nuttiness but awesome creature effects and some nice kills. I doubt it will get a 4K disc release but I will probably get the Blu-ray at some point.

While I didn't think it was an absolute waste of time, in many ways it felt incredibly disappointing.
The practical FX are solid but Steven C. Miller's direction and Brandon Cox's cinematography don't do the FX any favors.
There's almost zero sense of (physical) space throughout the run-time and shots feel like zoomed in interiors of a washing machine. It also doesn't help that there's a hilarious over usage of lens flares and strobe lights.
Frank Grillo is Frank Grillo but his abs are constantly lit better than the entirety of this film

I thought the movie was bad, but I did enjoy the moment where they introduced Frank Grillo's character as a molecular biologist. I mean...sure.

I bought this on Fandango a few weeks ago since it dropped below $10.
For a low budget B/C movie, it was kind of fun. Lots of cheesy lines. The transformation effects were pretty good for the budget they had. For about 90 minutes, it's not the worse way to kill some time if you want to watch a creature horror movie.
Lou Diamond Phillips has a very small part and basically disappears after the 1st act.
The editing was a little choppy and just abruptly ends. I was like That's it?

Watched this today via Hulu.
I was impressed with the werewolf effects.

Forgot all about this movie . . . Will end up watching it in my quest for Halloween fair.
