Armor (2024, D: Routt) S: Stallone, Patric
Oscar nominee Sylvester Stallone and Jason Patric star in an action-packed, thriller about the lengths one man will go to save what’s left of his family and reclaim his own life. James and his son Casey are armored truck drivers tasked with delivering a suspicious package. After a violent ambush on the road, James and Casey are trapped until they discover the value of what they have been carrying and join forces to outgun and outwit their attackers.
The cast also includes Dash Mihok, Josh Wiggins, Blake Shields, and Erin Ownbey. Lionsgate will release the Justin Routt-directed action film in theaters and on digital and On Demand on November 22, 2024.

Saw the trailer earlier. Looks okay for a DTV video.
But, I guess with Stallone being 78 now and even with him on a high profile show like Tulsa King, no major studio is going to give him work. The last 6 titles with him as a lead have all been Lionsgate/Amazon movies.

Look like typical low budget fare. Maybe they offset Stallone’s fee with a single location (or almost single location)
it’s been awhile since I’ve seen Jason Patric in anything. He was supposed to be the next big thing once upon a time.
If it hits one of the streaming services I have I’ll give it a watch. That’s about all the effort I’m willing to give to this.

I suspect a key name in the credits is producer Randall Emmett. His productions always seem to attract former big stars who’ve gotten long in the tooth or whose franchises have run out of steam, like Stallone’s. He produced several Stallone films already (all three ESCAPE PLANs plus BACKTRACE). He was behind most of Bruce Willis’ unfortunate latter day run of DTV junk, plus he gave regular work to Robert DeNiro (SAVAGE SALVATION, WAR WITH GRANDPA, HEIST, FREELANCERS, RIGHTEOUS KILL), Mel Gibson (HOT SEAT, FORCE OF NATURE, BOSS LEVEL), John Travolta (GOTTI, SPEED KILLS, both CASH OUT movies), Nicolas Cage (FROZEN GROUND, BAD LIEUTENANT 2, WICKER MAN, INCONCEIVABLE) and a rotating roster of second- to bottom-tier stars either as leads or in support (Frank Grillo, Kevin Dillon, Emile Hirsch, Matthew Modine, John Cusack, Dave Bautista, Thomas Jane, and of course Jason Patric, not to mention waaaay too much 50 Cent). He also produced a lot of Steven Seagal’s awful post-fame crap back in the day, so he clearly found his niche early on.
ARMOR seems like it will be right at home among all of those other films: poorly reviewed but watchable (maybe) assembly-line, straight-to-streaming fare, with at best a teeny theatrical release because of the star.
I could swear, though, that I’ve seen the IMDb listing for this – with behind-the-scenes stills – for a few years now, but I could be misremembering. The director certainly doesn’t have anything of note under his belt, so maybe this took a while to finish?

This is now out on VOD. If anyone is interested. Probably won't be on an SVOD service for several more months. Lionsgate movies usually end up on Starz, but they take a super long time.

$9.99 from Fanflix. I know these Lionsgate VOD movies are hit or miss, so it's up to you if you want to get it because as I mentioned before, these movies usually only go to Starz many months later.

When the truck flipped over on the bridge it jumped the shark and I lost interest.
I was more into the Jason Patrick story with his son in the beginning and if it was a drama it could have worked with those two.
