TRANSFORMERS ONE is the untold origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron, better known as sworn enemies, but once were friends bonded like brothers who changed the fate of Cybertron forever. In the first-ever fully CG-animated Transformers movie, TRANSFORMERS ONE features a star-studded voice cast, including Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson, Keegan-Michael Key, Steve Buscemi with Laurence Fishburne and Jon Hamm.

Re: Transformers One (2024, D: Cooley) -- The Spoiler-Filled Reviews Thread
I saw the Fan Event screening tonight in Dolby.
I thought this was great. Probably one of, if not the best Transformers movie of the series. It might be head to head with Bumblebee.
Hemsworth and Henry were both solid as Orion Pax and D-16. They had good banter and you really believed they were friends. It was kind of sad how their friendship disintegrated towards the end as D-16 became obsessed with control and power.
I think Hemsworth did a good job portraying Orion-Pax/Prime without trying to imitate Peter Cullen. Of course, there will be comparisons.
It was a story of friendship and betrayal. Don't be turned off by the trailers if you're a fan of the IP. The movie is a lot darker and not "kiddy" at all. But they did balance it out with some humor.
Before D-16's heel turn, it was revealed that Centinel Prime was the main villain and that was one of the instigators of Megatron being born.
A solid movie. 4 out of 5 stars. I'm not going to compare this to the live action movies, but if you grew up with the animated series, I think you'll be entertained. There are little nuggets that are thrown around in the dialogue that you have to be a "fan" of the IP to pick up on.
There are 2 bonus scenes. Mid-credits and post credits.
The Mid-credits is more light and fun
The post-credits shows Megatron teasing the rise of the Decepticons

Here is what they gave out tonight

There were 4 posters. Prime, Megatron, Bumblebee and Elita. I just took what the girl handed me. I didn’t want to be “that guy” who wanted to swap out a poster.

Saw it tonight and really liked it. I prefer my Transformers human-free so it was nice to stick to Cybertron. Liked the little Easter eggs and background catches. And they tied some nostalgia in without being groan-worthy. For example, I really liked how Starscream got his “voice”.
Voice acting was solid and the animation looked great, especially since I’m a big fan of the original animated movie. Definitely had a similar vibe with a modern look.

Nephew and I give it two thumbs up! Yeah, I think the trailers included all of the jokes by B, while ignoring all of the 2nd/3rd act drama - the marketing imo didn't give a full picture of the film. I loved the cityscapes of Cybertron, equally as cool was the surface shots - just beautiful lighting and scale. (I work on environments, which is why I comment on them so much!) Sadly, a pretty sparse crowd in the premium screen showings, but they were enthusiastic. Great end of credits scene, I still wish something as important as that was included at least as the early credit scene, if not in the film itself.

It looks like this isn't gonna get appreciated for how good it was. It opened to $25 million and came in second to Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. It's pretty funny after watching the trailer for this who would've thought this movie would be far less silly and cringey than the live action movies. Hoping they make sequels.

I finally got to see this today, and I REALLY liked it. Just the right amount of humor, good story, decent score, and I thought the animation was well done. It might not play so well for those not familiar with G1 Transformers, but that's not me.
I would love to see more.

And what's really funny is the GoBots hit shelves first. I have a Leader-1 figure on a shelf right next to me.

A lot of people passed on watching this in the theater. Sadly animated movies that aren't Disney are not valued as theatrical experiences IMO
Anyway, this will be on PVOD October 22nd and will probably be on Paramount + sometime in November if I had to guess.

I think the problems were twofold: 1. The mainline Transformer movies are practically animated already and 2. They've spent the last 15+ years hammering home Transformers movies as not being "for babies" and are big event films for teens/adults and then this thing looks like it's "for babies".

They finally make a Transformers movie without the annoying humans (apologies to Bumblebee) and it doesn't do well, of course.

This was so good. Loved every minute of the zaniness and seriousness of D-16 and Pax’s relationship. Great cast. Seeing it from the beginning was a treat. I just wish the last line was Peter Cullen. That would have been the ultimate, but the voice cast was till great. Tyree-Henry and Chris Hemsworth were really good. Then you have ScarJo, Fishburne, Michael-Key. Really well done. Favorite animated since Across the Spider-Verse.
Also, enjoyed the few Vudu extras.

I also loved and bought the end title's song. Like my hip hop punchy with a good kick.

I enjoyed this just fine, but it bothered me that I felt like I was listening to Thor and Black Widow all movie long. Also, it felt like Transformers by way of Dreamworks Animation formula. Make everything super family friendly and funny and as broad as possible. And then I felt like things were under-developed too. Like Bumblebee, if you didn't have any prior knowledge of anything about him from other media, then he really didn't contribute anything to the movie.

Watch this movie!! It really deserves more attention.
So freaking good. Don’t hesitate because it’s animated. If you have Paramount plus, it’s worth the time.
