RIP Charles Cyphers 1939-2024 (Sheriff Leigh Brackett in Halloween 1978, Major League, The Fog)

Charles Cyphers who played Sheriff Brackett in the original Halloween and in Halloween Kills passed away at the age of 85. I don't know if this news is enough to warrant its own thread but thought it was good to put it here. I also liked him for his role as one of the scouts in Major League. John Carpenter posted a nice tribute to him on his Facebook page.

Yeah it was a nice tribute. He was in a number of Carpenter’s earlier films. Sad news indeed.

Sad news. I remember him from the Halloween movies and The Fog but first and foremost I think of his role in Major League.

He did such a good job as the Indians Scout Charlie Donovan.

I knew him in Major League first before watching Halloween.

It’s unfortunate his tribute is stuck in the thread for this horrible movie .

I agree with the other poster who said his tribute shouldn't be in the Halloween Kills\Ends thread.

I didn't know he was born in my hometown.

Not a huge star, but he's been talked about a lot over social media.

I didn't think he was well known enough of a name to make a thread but I guess i was wrong. I checked out his imdb page and he really did have an extensive resume of tv work as a Character actor. I haven't seen "The Fog" or "Assault on Precinct 13" so maybe I'll make a point to watch them this fall.

You should definitely watch those films. Well you should definitely watch all of John Carpenter’s movies, but those two for sure.
Check out Vigilante Force while you’re at it. Another Cyphers role.

I second that!!! The original Assault on Precinct 13 and The Fog are classics and much much better than the remakes.
