Based on that cast, the scandal-plagued producer, and the director (whose career fizzled after the excellent SWIMMING WITH SHARKS), I’m assuming this won’t get much theatrical play and will be on streaming pretty fast. I’m glad to see any movie promoting free and truly democratic Taiwan as a viable setting as opposed to any more coproductions kissing Mainland China’s ass, but I suspect the movie that truly breaks cinematic interest in the region has yet to be made. Lead actress Gwei Lun-Mei has done a number of Taiwanese and/or regional movies that are worth watching if you can find them on streams (A LEG, the animated ON HAPPINESS ROAD, STARRY STARRY NIGHT, the Hong Kong thriller STOOL PIGEON, SECRET).

Yeah it sounds like a loser but I like seeing stuff shot in Taiwan.

Saw this over the weekend.
Quite easily one of my least favorite experiences in theater this year.
I'm curious how much of the script was actually written by Luc Besson (who co-write alongside Director George Huang) because so much of it feels like generic, post-2005 Luc Besson.
