In her debut as a writer-director, actress Jennifer Esposito (Blue Bloods, Summer Of Sam, Crash) brings late 1980s Staten Island to vivid life through the lens of Rose Larusso (Emily Bader), an inquisitive young girl who discovers her father (Domenick Lombardozzi) is an emerging mafia kingpin. Rose’s growing desire to break free from the path set before her soon threatens her existence and alienates her from her closest allies: her mother Francine (Esposito), her sister Connie (Odessa A’zion), and her aunt Christine (Annabella Sciorra).

I remember seeing this on the slate last year for Tribeca and peeking my interest, but I was not able to fit it in to my schedule.
It is now on VOD (and Hoopla if you have access).
I thought this was quite well done. It's basically is a mob movie from the female perspective of the wife and daughters. A lot of the time mob movies like to glamorize the lifestyle before things fall apart, but there is no glamorizing here.
Esposito mortgaged her house to get the film made herself.
Unfortunately, the distributor of the film is Quiver and they don't market their films.

I saw her post on Twitter because she responded to some tweets on how Coppola is getting to have his self-funded film made and seen, along with Snyder's Rebel Moon DC's, but her film won't be seen, because yadda yadda yadda, I'm a woman and it's a low budget independent feature, etc.

I’m a fan of Jennifer Esposito so I may check this out but I usually find the female characters in mafia movies to be pretty annoying. I’m a little worried about an entire movie centered around them.
Hopefully Esposito gives a fresh perspective on the women in these men’s lives.
