Dead Boy Detectives (Netflix) -- set in The Sandman Universe -- 4/25/24
Sort of spun off from their short run on The Doom Patrol series on MAX, but now apparently a part of the "Sandman" Netflix Universe.

I wonder if they have a new origin story.
The events that led to their... predicament... hasn't happened in the Netflix Sandman series yet, and it appears this will air before season two of that series.

I never finished S1 (although the episode at a pub across time has to be one of my top 10 episodes of tv), nor have I read the books. I saw the trailer said from the author, but does that mean they are Sandman canon?

In the comics the characters first appeared in a sort of fill-in issue/sidequest story in the "Season of Mists" story arc which will, presumably, be in Sandman season two. (It was set up in the tenth episode of season one with Lucifer's appearance and claim that he/she was going to do something to make God angry.)

Watched the first episode and enjoyed it a lot. Looking forward to continuing.
Pretty much brand new characters compared to the boys in Sandman/The Children's Crusade, which is perfectly fine with me. Seems the show is going to be its own thing. I'd probably prefer it if these characters didn't show up in the main Sandman series.

That episode 1 was fantastic.
Episode 2 was a big step down. Enough that it felt like Ep1 was a pilot and Ep2 was made a year later.
Also not a fan of this overly dark photography. This doesn't work for a TV show, you might as well be shooting it slightly out of focus.

Finished the series over the weekend and loved it. There is no doubt this is within the Sandman Universe based on some confirmations given.
Pros:
-The show is well cast. Lotsa good chemistry here.
-My Man Michael Beech making another DC project appearance
-Loved the lore.
-The Sprites in the jar 🤣🤣 love them. They are assholes
-The Night Nurse
-Jenn Lyons playing "Esther" 😍😍😍 She is so good in this. Been a fan of her's since "Claws".
Cons:
-Only 8 eps
-Having all 8 eps dropped at once. There won't be much discussion for this show until it comes back.
