Glad to see Spiritbox pick up a nomination for Jaded. I've been listening to them quite a bit lately. New EP The Fear of Fear is really good.
I'm guessing Taylor Swift will clean up this year on most of the categories she is nominated.

Really strange seeing The War and Treaty as Best New Artist when they’ve been around for a decade with at least the past 2-3 years as a national act.
I was hoping Weathervanes would get an AotY nomination. It’s just masterful songwriting and hits on so many hot button issues of today. Easily my favorite album of 2023. King of Oklahoma would have been great as SotY but it was only submitted under the Americana category. Overall pretty happy with the Americana and Country categories; it’s funny how the Grammys do better with country music than any of 18 dedicated country music award shows do.

Really surprised that The 1975 seems to be shut out. Their album was fabulous -- my favorite album of 2022. I guess the negative press Matty Healy got once he started dating Taylor Swift has come back to hurt him here.

Re: 2024 Grammy Award Nominations Announced
"Record of the Year", "Song Of The Year" and "Best Pop Performance" all seem like the exact same thing.
There are actually some decent songs listed up there. My favorite of the bunch is "What Was I Made For" which is a truly touching song. And I am not a Billie Eilish fan and haven't seen the movie Barbie. I know this is a Grammy thread, but in regard to Oscar "Best Song", Billie Eilish certainly did not deserve it for "No Time To Die" (which was awful), but she certainly deserves it for "What Was I Made For."
I don't watch award shows or typically pay attention but any award that particular song is up for, it should win in my opinion.

Record of the Year is for best overall recorded song (award actually goes to performer and producer of the track). Best Pop Vocal Performance is for best song recording by a solo pop artist. This year there's a lot of overlap (only boygenius and Jon Batiste don't fit in the Pop Solo category), but other years there are more Country/R&B/Rock songs competing, as well as groups and bands.

The Grammies continuously is able to put up nominations that make it look like they want to be both the Kid's Choice Awards and the AARP Awards

I recently bought Olivia Rodrigo’s album Guts. An actual CD, not a stream or download. It’s quite good. But, I guess Taylor Swift will likely take those categories.
I still need to get Kelly Clarkson’s new one. Big fan of hers. But I don’t see her winning.

I'm constantly struck by how similar the song "What Was I Made For" is to "When She Loved Me", which is, improbably, another movie song written by an Oscar-winning singer songwriter about a girl's doll having an existential crisis.

Yeah the new album announcement (not Reputation TV but a brand-new album) is a shock, actually.
And SZA is amazing. Check out SOS when you get a chance.
