I had never heard of him until he was announced as the host… that being said, I’ve seen some of his stuff since then and it’s pretty good. Let’s see how he does tonight.

I'll be watching live as usual, but this time I like both the host and musical act, can't remember the last time that happened!

Big step down in quality after last week. Bargatze wasn't much of a comedic actor, but I also didn't care for his standup, in the monologue. Kinda reminds me of Dane Cook in that he just tells odd anecdotes instead of anything really funny.
Foo Fighters saved it after two weeks of auto-tuned artists who heavily rely on backing tracks. Believe it or not, I don't much like the Foos either, I wish I did but I don't. But at least they played their music live, and H.E.R. was a good addition for the second song.
Next up is Timothee Chalamet with Boygenius.

I thought Foo Fighters were great. Loved the version of "The Glass" with HER. That was inspired-- as was having Christopher Walken introduce them again.

They have a habit of getting musical guests to host and Dave Grohl should be a future host and he seems like he has a knack for comedy.
Were there only two sketches after weekend update?
A lot of commercials unless there were technical difficulties since it seemed people had problems reading their lines.

When I saw Christopher Walken I thought maybe Tom Hanks would be back as David Pumpkins and Walken could play his dad unless Hanks was busy?

So in the last four years Biden has been played by Woody Harrelson, Jason Sudeikis, Jim Carrey, Alex Moffat, James Austin Johnson, and now Mikey Day. Did I miss anyone? That seems like a lot.

I didn't find the monologue all that funny, and Bargatze didn't offer much in the sketches.
Good to see Sarah Sherman get more stage time.
I thought Mikey Day did a decent job playing Biden. He wasn't spot-on with the impression, but he doesn't have to be. I find it better when it's not perfect.
Overall, a meh episode.

I didn’t know Bargatze before this and I thought he was very funny. I went and downloaded a couple of his comedy albums because I watched this. Loved the revolutionary war/weights and measures sketch, especially with Bargatze ignoring Kenan Thompson’s questions.

The writers didn't give Bargatze much to do in most of the sketches, but they should have because he was the main player in the funniest sketch of the night (weights and measures). His dry, stoneface delivery was perfect for that one. Loved his monologue too, but I've been a fan of his standup for awhile.

Was that weight and measures sketch inspired by or borrowed from George Carlin?

I also liked the Soul Food chef sketch. Bargatze's deadpan delivery of "I'm sorry" after every compliment was great. I also liked that the character was from Rhode Island (where I was born and raised!).

No David Pumpkins was a letdown but Bargatze was pretty funny for someone I never heard of and the Foos were excellent as usual.

Never heard of Nate before this either, but I immediately watched his special on Prime after watching this episode. I guess it's because I'm a white 43 year old Midwesterner who had semi-strict parents growing up, but I really dug him. A lot of his bits really hit home.
It's crazy if you go on Youtube to see how much he changed in a small amount of time. He lost weight, got some gray, and grew a beard. He actually looks better now than when he had a chubby baby face.

He was on Dana Carvey and David Spade's podcast and talked about the show. The Weights and Measures skit was almost cut, then bumped up, he said he was new to cue cards and talked about some funny mistakes he made, pretty good interview.

I think Google pays NBC to use specific musical guests, so that old farts like me continue to use Google to find out who the hell they are.
Tate McRae being Canadian still didn't put her on my radar. Checked out a couple of her songs - never even heard a snippet from them anywhere.
She looks a bit like a young Eliza Dushku is some pictures.

Radio? What is this "radio" that you speak of? I haven't listed to the radio in around 25+ years.
The way I come across popular songs is through TV show/movies and many times though commercials for radio stations. Usually it's only the chorus snippet I'll hear.
Most times that I've heard a snippet of a popular song, I have no idea who sings it.
I checked out that Greedy video yesterday and never heard the song before.
