For game fans looks like this is a direct continuation of the reboot trilogy. Which is great news since a new game hasn't been announced.

It was announced last year. Developed by Crystal Dynamics and Published by Amazon.

A few generic choice quotes:
“single-player, narrative-driven adventure that continues Lara Croft’s story in the Tomb Raiderseries.”
“the biggest, most expansive
Tomb Raider game to date.” and potentially tying together the original games and the most recent trilogy.
VP of Amazon Games: “Our team is incredibly excited about collaborating with the talented and visionary Crystal Dynamics team to bring the next chapter of Lara Croft’s saga to players around the world.”
first week April of 2022: Tomb Raider 13 announced to be using Unreal Engine 5 and is early in development. So just guessing but we're probably looking at another year or two out.

Unrelated but unearthed looking for these quotes: Crystal Dynamics is working with MS on a Perfect Dark game.

Not really a fan of anime outside of Hayao Miyazaki and Cowboy Bebop but I'll stick with the boobalicious Angelina Jolie in the 2001 movie.

Sure looks like it is. And doesn't Netflix categorize most of their 2D animated shows as anime?

Neither of those things make it anime though.

Let's be honest, all animation is anime. You go to Japan and a Disney cartoon like The Lion King is categorized as anime. The aesthetic distinction that only Japanese animation is anime is a Western assumption.

I mean, shit, the saucer eyes so prevalent in manga that then crossed over into anime is taken from one artist's fondness for Mickey Mouse cartoons.

You know what anime means and are just being stupid at this point so I'll end the conversation.

^ What the hell are you going on about? Of course it’s Anime. It looks like anime, Netflix has it categorized as “anime” and even the show runner refers to it as anime.

And if, for some weird reason, you’re stuck on some rigid definition of anime, it’s defined as:

: a style of animation originating in Japan that is characterized by stark colorful graphics depicting vibrant characters in action-filled plots often with fantastic or futuristic themes.

Powerhouse Animation Studios in Austin, TX, produced this series. They also did Castlevania.

No need for name calling, just because we disagree.

Animation style looks good to me, but may not be for everyone. Atwell is perfect for the voice.

Re: Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft -- Animated series (Netflix) -- V: Hayley Atwell

Not to bring up the past but while it's technically correct that anime is the term for animation in Japan, it's widely used here to describe animation that originates in Japan and was intended for that audience (for instance Transformers is not really considered anime by most). Lines have been blurred of course, but it's like saying manga encompasses all comics because that's what they call comics in Japan.

Anyway, did this do well enough to earn a second season for Netflix or is this just playing out the original contract or something? I noticed nobody commented about actually watching it after it came out...

I forgot about this show, but I recently finally played the third game in the reboot trilogy, so I should give this a watch now.
