Well, two comments:

1) Glad to have these Star Wars stories return. Great sense of world building and introduction of old and new characters.

and

2) Now that we’ve seen these two episodes, we know where 95% of the trailers we’ve seen got their content from - making next week’s episode pretty much unseen material!

FYI, the first episode is titled “Master and Apprentice” (56 minutes) and the second is titled “Toil and Trouble” (44 minutes)… and I think we’ll see a theme of pairs in the titles for this show.

I've never gotten into the animated stuff, but I didn't feel like I missed anything (I'm sure I did, but you know what I mean) this was pretty good. I know this is another "volume" show, but it looked really good (even though Andor has really spoiled me with it's location shooting and real sets) unlike the last season of Mando, which was a step backwards, IMO.

I hope the rumors that Thrawn is barely in this aren't true as his Trilogy is still my all time favorite from the then expanded universe books.

The other two sets of Thrawn trilogies written by Zahn (that are canon) are pretty good too.

But I agree that the original Zahn trilogy was the best.

I picked up the 20th anniversary edition at Star Wars Celebration and got it autographed by Zahn. I need to bust that out again as it is an annotated version with a short Thrawn novella included.

I absolutely LOVED this. It was great to see (some of) the crew of the Ghost again. That mural of the crew looking like their animated selves really got me. If Freddie Prinze Jr. shows up in this as a Force ghost, I just know I'm going to absolutely lose my shit. Lose. My. Shit.

Loved it. Enjoyed it more than anything in the sequel trilogy. It is great to see these characters in live action.

If you want a good, concise recap of Rebels seasons 1-4, this is a good video:

Yea... that's good. He also has a playlist that gives details on individual character journeys too.

So to understand most of this I have to be a huge Star Wars fan and watch 4 seasons of a cartoon aimed at kids?

Re: Ahsoka (S1E01&E02) - “Part One: Master and Apprentice” & “Part Two: Toil and Trouble” - 8/22/23

I'd say this met my expectations and was a solid start... yes, scenes could be edited a bit faster and the camera work is fairly pedestrian (likely due to the volume limitations) but overall as an introduction it works. There certainly is room for growth (and healthy criticism), I do expect things to pick up the rest of the way.

I take particular interest in the environments/planets - and the sameness of three of them(out of four) isn't great. (lighting, time of day, etc) They just have to do a better job of differentiating them, it wouldn't take much. The planet with the star map was fantastic in mood (windy/light rain/dark) and to no surprise everything just felt better because of it. That Ashoka looks as good as she does in the brightly lit scenes is a high compliment to the makeup/costume team.

Is there one or two episodes of a previous show that I could watch as a primer for this.

Ah, looks like the final ep of Rebels should be enough.

This was all sorts of awesome. So many remnants from the OT. Loved the opening scroll. Rosario is just so fucking hot too. Starting off very strong. Very strong indeed.

So, when does this take place in the timeline of SW?

Around 9 ABY… about 10 years after the main story in Rebels.

I never saw Rebels. In terms of the nine movies, when is this series?

5 years after Return of the Jedi. Concurrent with The Mandolorian.

My son and I enjoyed it. A lot of set up. But a good amount of sword play.

Too bad Ray Stevenson passed away. He was good in everything.

Really enjoyed this. I thought it was released on Wednesday, so when I went into work today, I was late to the water cooler talk

Great lightsaber battles.

I didn’t watch Rebels, but this show had some good quick character development because I felt the pain when Sabine put her hand on the mural.

and I love MEW, so I guess she’ll be the character I’m rooting for.

Re: Ahsoka (S1E01&E02) - “Part One: Master and Apprentice” & “Part Two: Toil and Trouble” - 8/22/23

Maybe it’s because I was never really much into Rebels (though I watched it all), but I found these first two to be a snooze fest. I don’t recall the Sabine character being quite that annoying either.

Ray Stevenson’s apprentice also seems fairly generic and forgettable, but we’ll see if she has an interesting back story.

One thing I’m not clear on - not sure if I missed something: is this all happening prior to the season 2 Mandalorian episode The Jedi?
