Re: Secret Invasion (S1E06) - Finale - “Home” - 7/26/23

Thanks to Dose 2 of my colonoscopy prep, I was up early enough to watch this.

Totally underwhelmed.

And I thought the prep was the most uncomfortable thing I’d have to deal with today.

It was as if they made a list of loose ends to tie up and went down said list and wrote a scene to answer each one.

Methodical and boring.

Even Gravik v. Gaia was methodical and boring.

I’m sorry that Maria Hill and Talos had to be sacrificed for this series to happen.

This was a huge disappointment.
I’m a giant comic book movie and show fan but this was a dud and didn’t do anything to movie the stories forward.
Was the only thing to come out of this a new SuperSkrull?

Only 2 of the major players were skrulls? Rhodey and Ross plus killed off 2 important people in the MCU.

Happened inside this topic.

https://forum.dvdtalk.com/other-talk...e-so-high.html

I changed it but then couldn’t change it back.

Put a color version of my old avatar but couldn’t get it to work.
If you can make it work yeah, that’d be great.

So... essentially the most powerful person in the MCU... introduced on a TV show?

I don't if I like the idea of the Rhodey in IW and Endgame being a Skrull.

Do you still have the aGIF? I remember making it for you but I don’t know if I have it.

If you do, I’ll try and see what I can do. 😉

My guess is that it was post Endgame… sometime after “The Harvest.”

Or at least I hope it was… and to be honest, after this series, I don’t really care.

I’ll say this, if done right, this would have been an awesome 2hr 15m movie tightly edited to have some real connections and real effect on MCU the timeline.

Maybe someone will do it like they did with Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Soooooo, if all offworlders have to leave Earth or die, what's happening with New Asgard?

I thought about New Asgard too in the sense that it was so easy to give them a new home.

Is Thor not welcome back. I mean, he did do Earth a pretty big solid.

Tony Stark designed braces for him that he wears under his clothes and during physical therapy. Maybe he wasn’t wearing them when he was abducted.

Yes, he designed them for him because he was under the assumption that he couldn’t walk. So the Skrull who took him over had to go along with it.

I don’t see why they would’ve shown him not being able to walk and in the hospital gown if this wasn’t the case.

eta: it is the same gown -

Yeah. She is basically invincible with all those powers. Although maybe not since Gravik wasn't.

A pretty shitty retcon if it turns out that we are to believe he was a skrull since the end of CW.

It doesn’t make sense that the Rhodey in Endgame is a Skrull. When Thanos attacks the Avengers base at the end Rhodey gets out of his armor (“canopy, canopy”) and has to crawl to save Rocket. His scratches and injuries would have revealed him as a Skrull.

I’m guessing somewhere post Endgame but just before Winter Soldier and Falcon, Skrulls kidnapped him

And now they need a good reason why she will not show up for every Earth-based threat since she is the most powerful character in the MCU. Not really thrilled that they can just copy powers like Captain Marvel. Maybe it should end up being a temporary thing so one person can't be all-powerful.

That’s exactly what Super Skrulls are. In the comics, they were able to get most of the heroes and some villains powers but there were some intangibles like not being able to fully duplicate gods like Thor or Hercules or characters whose powers come from amulets or costumes (Darkhawk, Ghost Rider’s hell powers and every symbiote) or characters that had something additional to their powers (Wolverine’s adamantium skeleton).

Gaia is technically one of the most superpowerful beings in the universe now

It's cool in a power's way. Yet she will somehow never show up again when she could take out any threat. I know a littles about Super Skrulls just not a lot. (Read different comics) Captain Marvel is really powerful in the MCU and now that is just ONE of Gaias powers. I also watched Heroes and I liked when Peter had all the power at once and then they took them away. I know comics mostly likes to stay away from such powers as it makes one character far too powerful.

This entire series seemed half baked and was just a waste of time, money and talent.

It is a shame because it should have been fantastic and interwoven into the Marvel film universe as the Infinity Stones story was.

A good story...squandered.

Agreed. They could've printed money with this series.

I agree. This series could have just simply been called Skrulls and have Secret Invasion be a full scale film like Infinity War or even Captain America: Civil War. Secret Invasion was a really good comic book event as no one could trust each other due to not knowing who was a Skrull or not. Even characters like Wolverine and Daredevil had their sense thrown off because they didn't know who was real and who wasn't The key to this series was Reed Richards, so maybe will see something more like the comic book down the road when they introduce the Fantastic Four in the MCU.
