Random cameo from Mason.

Re: Secret Invasion (S1E05) - "Harvest" - 7/19/23

Just an okay episode. All of this seems to be rushing to an unsatisfying conclusion. Can a show feel rushed and lazily paced at the same time? This sure does.

I know this show isn't cheap but it sure feels low budget.

And Fury's explanation (aka the writer's excuse) for not have "Supers" in the show was mindbogglingly lame for the writers and selfish/out of character for Fury. This is personal so I am going to put the entire world at risk. Why did he create the Avengers initiative in the first place? Ugh.

Yet another trudge through a D+ (Ha...that can stand for both the studio and the grade) Marvel show. I don't know why I keep doing this to myself.

Best part of this show is Colman as Falsworth. Give her her own Suicide Squad type show or movie. She is what I always wanted Amanda Waller to be like. Viola Davis doesn't seem to have the snarky humorous poise of Colman. I know, I know...Waller was much more serious in the comics. I am just pointing out a personal preference for similar type characters.

This episode seemed longer than it said it was and not in a good way.

It was very uneven at times and I'm not sure how they are going to end it in a satisfying way next week... but we'll see.

I agree with this. She is awesome in this.

The harvest stuff is interesting. Wonder if Fury has been messing with more super solider serum shit.

Colman was awesome in this episode.

Yeah that cameo from Mason was so random. He was a pretty minor character in Black Widow.

I'm a little confused about Rhodey. So he's been a Skrull all along going back to the movies? Or is this one of Gravik's soldiers who kidnapped the real one at some point in the MCU timeline? I guess we shall see in the finale.

Honestly, that's how Fury is in the comic books. He creates the messes, and when he can clean them at all, then he brings in the superheroes. It's actually one of the biggest Marvel tropes. It's the reason no one in the Marvel Universe trust Fury.

Re: Secret Invasion (S1E05) - "Harvest" - 7/19/23

This series feels like it's just begging for a big budget sequel movie with the Avengers. Please tell me Disney has been filming an ultra secret (pun intended) movie this whole time, lol

In fact, that would actually be an awesome idea of integrating D+ with the MCU. Have all the set up in a series, and then a payoff blockbuster finale in theaters so that you HAVE to watch both. Talk about platform integration! For the most part, the shows haven't been must-watch for the overall arc (Wandavision probably being an exception) and feel pretty separate.

There’s a Gravik sighting in The Barbie Movie… Skrulls are everywhere!

In the Episode 5 breakdown on Nerdist, Dan Casey and crew draw some interesting insights and deductions for the finale next week…

Putting episodes on Hulu has nothing to do with how many people are or aren't watching.

Graviks plan has quite a few similarities to Charles Manson’s Helter Skelter. Start a worldwide war and then once it’s done emerge with one’s family as the new rulers of the earth.

It’s the only time this has happened, but sure, ok.

ABC is airing Ms. Marvel on broadcast TV to increase viewers... and with the ties between Hulu and D+ it makes sense to share the content between services, especially current content (since this is leading into Armor Wars and Thunderbolts for sure).

I was thinking perhaps sometime after Civil War when he got the legs injury that seems to have totally cleared up.

Everett Ross, however, I got no idea but I'm going to guess after Black Panther as he didn't start changing when Kilmonger shot him and you think Shuri would have noticed something when healing him later in Wakanda.

Disney is plugging these shows everywhere to try and drive awareness to Disney+ since no one is watching them. I fully expect Ms Marvel to get a .2 at best.

The reasoning for not calling any of the Avengers is weak. If the world is at stake you call whoever you need to.

That's my problem with the series. I never read the comic, but going off what I've heard, it was a HUGE event affecting all the heroes. This secret invasion sure is SECRET

My son and I just binged the first five eps.

I don’t understand why they don’t call the Avengers either.

Sad to see Maria Hill’s run in the universe come to an end.

Olivia Colman is the highlight of the series for me.

I'd have to rewatch the 1st or 2nd episode but I though Fury originally said he wasn't calling in the Avengers because the skrulls could assume their form.

That wasn't his explanation in this episode.

No it wasn't but in the second episode (I went back and looked) when he's meeting with Rhodey... Rhodey asks if it's time to bring in "our friends". Fury says no because they'd be duplicated and turned into terrorists.

That is a stupid reason but at least it was better than the explanation he gave in this episode. They should have stuck with that. Even the writers of this show can't remember what they are doing 5 episodes in on something so important. Weak sauce.

Re: Secret Invasion (S1E05) - "Harvest" - 7/19/23

It seems like Fury’s reasoning for not calling the Avengers should have been “I know one of them is compromised (War Machine), so I don’t know who I can trust.”
