Zootopia 2 (2025)
Animated sequels to Toy Story, Frozen and Zootopia are in the works, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced on today’s Q1 earnings call.
“Today I’m so pleased to announce that we have sequels in the works from our animation studios to some of our most popular franchises, Toy Story, Frozen and Zootopia,” Iger said. “We’ll have more to share about these productions soon, but this is a great example of how we’re leaning into our unrivaled brands and franchises.”

I just hope they don't use that one storyline that's been going around for a few years now, I just can't see that going down well with the flyover crowd.

In my opinion, Zootopia was the best thing out of Disney/Pixar/etc. in the last decade, full stop.
I have less than no interest in a Zootopia 2. That first movie was lightning in a bottle. I fear this will end up like Incredibles 2. A retread with nothing new to say, maybe an OK movie overall but a colossal waste of time and talent.

Sure. I'm in. That's cute.
One of my friends, who is much younger than me loves the first movie so much. I want to see this with him and our wives.

Ehh trailer didn't do much for me but tbh I love the first movie so much tempering expectations is probably a good thing.

I’m still dealing with the concussion of being hit over the head with first movie’s message. I’m not sure I can take another beating like that.

Can't say I am much impressed with that trailer, but I'm sure the movie will be fine.

While the trailer wasn't much, none of the original Zootopia trailers impressed me either, and I still think it's the best animated feature from Disney and/or Pixar this century (so far).

I thought the trailer was fine and at fist I thought I had already seen it in front of FF but that is a different Zootopia 2 teaser (a pretty well done teaser in fact, it felt different than what you usually get).
The bits with the soda can exploding and blasting the animal through the room was cute and the hippo getting the tramp stamp type tattoo and then causing a wave to push the tattoo artist away when the hippo stands up are actually nice visual gags.

I will never forget the first film's DMV trailer winning over an opening night Force Awakens crowd that was desperate to just get to the feature.

I'm sure watching this will be like watching Moana 2.
Not a bad film, just no where on the level as the original, but it will make a lot of money and kids will enjoy it.

This film has always been conceived as a theatrical sequel movie.

Saw this yesterday and it played like gangbusters with my packed crowd.
Personally I thought it was pretty cookie cutter with a plot that (as others have said) goes over a lot of ground that we already covered in the original. If you really love Nick and Judy it is worth watching for them as there are several great moments between the two. If you didn't remember that their names are Nick and/or Judy I would probably skip it.
3 1/2 stars which is I feel is generous as I do love the characters.

Saw it last night too (still confused over how it's opening today and we saw it yesterday, but oh well). It is basically the same movie as the first, and they even poke a little fun at it in one scene, but with the main difference not being the plot but the nature of the dysfunction in Judy and Nick's relationship. Basically the first movie was them being polar opposites but becoming friends, this one deals more with them working through basically friend therapy and the issues they have, which is actually a pretty decent concept (though my kids thought the payout for that was rushed through). Visuals were great, I thought unlike something like Elio the character designs really stood out and made the movie (much like the first one). I like how Ke Huy Quan's lisp or speech impediment fit in with his character. It doesn't really tackle the species/racism angle as acutely as the first one did, maybe that's intentional.
Main thing is that the kids loved it, and I didn't fall asleep at any point so it's a thumbs up from me. I think it also helped that we watched the first one before seeing this one since it takes place right after the conclusion of the first movie.
I did groan a little at the teaser at the end where it's like ANOTHER missing animal species will presumably show up in the next one.
