Ozzy Osbourne cancels shows / will no longer tour
Ozzy Osbourne cancels all shows, says his touring career is over | CNN
Ozzy Osbourne announced the cancellation of his upcoming shows, and said his touring career is over because he “is not physically capable (of it).”
In
released on Wednesday, thehttps://www.cnn.com/2022/04/29/entertainment/sharon-ozzy-osbourne-covid/index.htmlsaid he had a major accident four years ago in which he damaged his spine and that he can no longer cope with the travel required for a tour.
“My one and only purpose during this time has been to get back on stage,” he said. “My singingvoice is fine. However, after three operations, stem cell treatments, endless physical therapy, and most recently groundbreaking Cybernics (HAL) Treatment, my body is still physically weak.”
During his career – which began as a member of groundbreaking heavy metal band Black Sabbath – Osbourne won Grammy Awards for both his solo work and as part of the band, which he left in 1978.
Osbourne postponed his 2019 tour to recover from the initial spinal injury and said Wednesday, when he canceled the tour, that he was “honestly humbled by the way you’ve all patiently held onto your tickets for all this time.”
His farewell European and UK tour was set to begin in Helsinki, Finland in May.

Kind of a bummer, but definitely not unexpected. I never got the chance to see Ozzy solo, and it would have been nice to hear those songs in an arena setting. I hope he can get some comfort, and enjoy his remaining life doing one-off shows here and there if he can.

If he can still perform but can't travel, he should do a Vegas residency. Sounds like that's something he might consider.

Good luck to him. Seen him lots of times both on his own and with Sabbath, all the way from being smashed off his face in the early 80's to his more recent sober state. He doesn't owe anybody anything. Never seen a bad Ozzy show, even when he was dressed like a pantomime dame in the late 80's.

Definitely would have liked to have seen him at some point but at his age and with his physical condition I can’t say I blame him for not touring anymore.

I know BB King had mobility issues. Oz could go to Vegas and sit in a chair, I'm sure fans would come to see him for some sort of residency dates

I don't see how these guys do it. My friends and I are in our sixties and we'll often wonder how these older guys are able to manage. None of us could do it. Mowing the lawn is enough to kill us. We just figure that a lifetime of performing keeps you in better shape than the average person.

He must really be hurting if Sharon isn't going to roll him out on stage on a dolly like Hannibal Lector.

Maybe if he gets back to full or close to normal health he could do one show or shows at a central location or Vegas.

Ozzy, though. I'm not really sure I'd want to see a show with him sitting. He's been hobbling around the stage for close to 20 years now, and that was sometimes tough to watch. Maybe something theatrical could be set up for him to remain relatively seated. I'm fine with him tapping out. He's had a pretty amazing run.

He is back with new music with Steve Stevens and Paris Jackson appearing as the hottie in the video

He didn't stand at his HOF induction. This metal throne with skulls and stuff on rolled out onto the stage with him sitting in it. He gave his acceptance speech sitting.

Ok... but that isn't Ozzy's YouTube account. He just posted the video to his YouTube page 4 days ago which is why it looks new to some of us.

The YouTube re-post of Crack Cocaine may have the goal to remind us of that earlier Ozzy/Billy Morrison/Steve Stevens collab because they're dropping the following this Friday:
OZZY OSBOURNE And BILLY MORRISON To Release Re-Recorded Version Of 2015 Collaborative Song 'Gods Of Rock N Roll'

Look at my posted video, it's the same thing posted last March.
And here's the Rolling Stone article on it from last March,

And here's the video on Ozzy's website, posted last March.

As mentioned above, it was probably reposted for promotion of the upcoming Ozzy and Billy Morrison collab.

Ozzy's final show announced ...

LONDON (AP) — Ozzy Osbourne will reunite with all of the original members of Black Sabbath for the first time in 20 years, in a gig that will be his last and that’s being billed as the “greatest” heavy metal show ever, promoters said Wednesday.
The band, one of the most influential of all heavy metal bands, will headline “The Back to the Beginning” show on July 5 at Villa Park, home of the Aston Villa Football Club in Birmingham, England.
“It’s my time to go back to the beginning … time for me to give back to the place where I was born,” Osbourne said in a statement. “How blessed am I to do it with the help of people whom I love. Birmingham is the true home of metal. Birmingham forever.”
Osbourne, who was the band’s front man during its peak period in the 1970s and who was widely known as the “Prince of Darkness,” will deliver his own short set before Sabbath bandmates, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward, join him for the first time in two decades.
The all-day event will also feature a host of major metal bands including Metallica, Slayer and Alice In Chains, with more names to be announced shortly.
“This will be the greatest heavy metal show ever,” music director Tom Morello said.
In 2020, Osbourne revealed he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and he paused touring in 2023 after extensive spinal surgery. He has struggled with health issues since 2003 following a near-fatal quad bike crash, injuries that were aggravated in 2019 when he fell at home.
Sabbath’s story began in Birmingham in 1968 when the four original members were looking to escape a life of factory work. Their eponymous debut album in 1970 made the U.K. top 10 and paved the way for a string of hit albums, including 1971’s “Master of Reality” and “Vol. 4” a year later. They went on to become one of the most influential and successful metal bands of all time, selling more than 75 million albums worldwide.
Osbourne’s fame expanded into the mainstream in the early 2000s, when he joined his wife Sharon Osbourne, and two of their children in the hugely successful MTV reality TV show “The Osbournes.”
All profits from the July 5 show will go to charities including Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Acorn Children’s Hospice, which is supported by Aston Villa.
Tickets go on sale Friday, Feb. 14.

I was just going to post about this show. Not sure how many songs they'll be able to play, but it's nice to see Bill back in the band for one last show.
