Lower earnings forecasts in a slowing economy combined with discounting due to pricing pressures. Don't worry, they'll be ok and will be begging for your money with xmas sales and two year financing plans.

Got spanked by analysts after earnings. Negative talk about the next two quarters.
BB did say, however, that they would be running more promotions to get customers into the stores, so I guess that's good news for us....

I heard on the radio that the execs are bullish on the future because Best Buy offers "value-add" by being able to help customers with confusing products like HDTV and satellite dishes.
Um, yeah. I think my mom could guess right on this stuff more often than the drones in the store. Best Buy should save money by *eliminating* all the sales droids who are constantly asking me if there's anything I need help with (my response: "Why? It's not as if you could offer any if I did.") and turning themselves into a true warehouse style store.
Oh, wait, I get it. They meant there's value add in having some kid dupe an ignorant consumer into buying an overpriced product and buying the service contract. I guess I can't argue with that.

It's no wonder they get clueless help. A few years ago, I got to talking candidly with a worker, and she said that employees were STARTING at $9+ an hour, and it just went up from there (based on product knowledge tests/certifications). Remember, this was two years ago; I wonder what starting is now?
Sure beats flippin' burgers....

I have bought BB stock NUMEROUS times right
around the $40 mark and sold at $80+
Here I go again today!<HR>
Lovely speculation, but in the past, online stores weren't dropping like flies as they are now and I for one don't share your enthusiasm.

spoken like an IGNORANT feneant!
Read the original post by cinemaphile7,
we are talking about BestBuy brick &
mortar and if you DO NOT yet know,
best buy does NOT have a separate
company for its on-line presence!
Speculation??? In my case I can tell
you that BestBuy has consistently
outperformed most other CE companies.
Adjusted for stock splits, what I had
orginally purchased at $25 per share
just over 3 years ago is now worth
OVER $180!!!
if you do not have any idea what the
discussion is about, keep your mouth
closed!

Since Amazon's MAJOR current shortcoming is acknowledged to be its shipping expenses/losses, I hate to think what this current free shipping promotion is gonna do to their bottom line....

BillumillAmerika, I appreciate your enthusiasm, but if you can't take constructive criticism, or a difference of opinion ... you may be better served and happier in the long-run by not engaging in conversation. One of the best parts of these threads is the freedom it provides to voice an opinion. However, being rude and obnoxious when someone has a difference of opinion, or posts a comment that doesn't really doesn't fit into the conversation, is only going to cause a flame-war, and may ultimately lead to your banishment.
