Star Trek predicted quite a few things really. Communicators were basically cell phones. The comm badge in later versions of Trek is kind of like a Bluetooth communication device. Touch screens and tablet type devices were used in TNG and beyond. Voice command computers. I’m sure there are more things I’m missing.

From what I’ve read, it’s not so much that Trek predicted this kind of tech but more that young people grew up watching Trek and became engineers and intentionally used Trek as inspiration for all these things.

That makes sense I suppose. Still though the people behind Star Trek had some of the ideas at least for some of our modern technology.

I know we're not 100% of the way there yet, but I'd add self-driving cars to the list. Although I have to say the ones in Timecop that were totally enclosed might prove to be a problem for people with claustrophobia.

Also, aren't there stores that track what you buy through facial recognition? I'm pretty sure I've seen that in shows and movies but struggle to name specific ones at the moment.

The Tom Cruise version of Minority Report had the stores tracking people by eyes and doing specific ads.
