The Lie (2020, D: Sud) S: Joey King, Mireille Enos, Peter Sarsgaard - "Welcome to The Blumhouse"

The Lie is written and directed by Veena Sud, and stars Mireille Enos (The Killing), Peter Sarsgaard (An Education) and Joey King (The Kissing Booth 2, The Act). When their teenaged daughter confesses to impulsively killing her best friend, two desperate parents attempt to cover up the horrific crime, leading them into a complicated web of lies and deception. Produced by Alix Madigan-Yorkin, Christopher Tricarico, and Jason Blum. Executive produced by Howard Green, Kim Hodgert, Jeanette Volturno, Couper Samuelson and Aaron Barnett.
Prime Video presents Welcome to The Blumhouse, a collection of unsettling genre films that tap into our deepest fears. Produced by the master of horror, Jason Blum, and directed by a group of emerging voices, these stand-alone dark thrillers introduce audiences to new worlds, diverse perspective and sinister plots. While each film is distinct, the Welcome to The Blumhouse collection explores family and love as a redemptive or destructive force. So curl up on the couch, unsettle in and watch as our character becomes entangled in their own web of lies, betray their loved ones and escape from the evils that haunt them.

Hated this one. There's no horror element and it's a mirror universe Defending Jacob with a stupid twist.

King was on Stern recently and she talked about a horrible horror movie she was in. She didn't say which movie. I wonder if this is the one.

Na, this wasn’t a horror movie. I’m assuming she was talking about Slenderman.

"Welcome to the Blumhouse" is them just cleaning out the backroom shelves so far.

I get it though, these low budget movies can't all be Saw or Happy Death Day.

Finished this one up tonight.

It's been a minute since I've watched a film with so many unlikable & dumb characters, yet here we are.
