I saw that season 1 was released August 31, 2018. So I'm guessing this will also come out next month as well. I'm trying to think of this as an 8 hour Jack Ryan movie as opposed to an 8 episode TV show. When I think of it that way, it lessens the sting of waiting 1 full calendar year between seasons.

Looks awesome. Never would have thought Jim and his real life wife would be action heroes but they both are amazing! Might need to re-watch season 1 as I binged it when it came out and haven't seen it since.

I lost steam and quit S1 about 3 episodes in. Didn't find it very interesting. Will this be a stand-alone so if you know the characters, you can just start on S2 or will it tie directly into the events in S1?

There's a little bit of carryover where you benefit from seeing season one, but really, you could watch season two and it will be its own narrative.
Is that a goal for you, that each season should feel self-contained, without needing to watch the previous season first?

I think one of the things that we both talked about when we started coming up with the architecture of the show was that you should be able to watch it in the same way that you can go to an airport bookstore and grab a Tom Clancy Jack Ryan book and never have read the previous one, and still enjoy it. In that same way, you should be able to enjoy our show. It shouldn't be so serialized that you can't jump in at any moment.

Season 1 was just entertaining enough, so I guess I'm in for season 2. I hope there is less filler this time around, though. The stuff with the drone pilot ground things to a halt, aside from the five seconds when he did something relevant to the main story.

Krasinski actually announced on social media earlier today that the season was dropping early.
Hopefully they don't make us wait 15 months for season 3.
I probably won't get started on this until the weekend.

I found S1 mostly boring but we got thru it about two weeks ago.... I'll definitely give S2 a shot but I'm hoping there's more action and less strategic discussions with Pentagon leadership who make "Jim from The Office" faces when Jack Ryan proposes a "can't miss" plan.
